This house was WONDERFULLY clean. The kitchen had all the tools we needed. The 2 bedrooms and 2 baths were well appointed (i loved the shower in the master bath). It has a beautiful back yard and garden. It is a 20 minute walk to Rockport and short drives everywhere else.

We are a couple in our late 50's, and along with our 24-year-old daughter, enjoyed a very pleasant stay at Pigeon Hill in mid-August. Our hosts were a delight to meet, friendly, responsive and very helpful. Sufficient tourist information literature is available in the house to acquaint yourself with local amenities and nearby destinations. The rental is situated at the back part of the property with a view to the intimate cottage garden. The cozy interior is a lovely combination of modern conveniences, comfortable and attractive furnishings, local artist prints on the walls, as well as an endearing nod to the past, such as the vintage-style lighting, the kitchen cupboards and hardware, the gorgeous master bath sink etc. Everything was clean, uncluttered and in working condition. The stacked washer and dryer are easy to use and there are operation manuals on the shelf, if needed. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of good quality serving and cookware, including a lobster pot if you’re brave with your cooking skills. The neighborhood is quiet at night and we enjoyed uninterrupted sleep the duration of our stay. Tip #1: If you like your morning coffee, buy or bring ground coffee to use for the coffee maker. They might have a small coffee bean grinder, but I didn’t see it on the counter and didn’t inquire since I brought ground coffee for our stay. Tip #2: Fill the ice cube trays when you first arrive. There are plenty of trays in the freezer, but there may not be ice ready to use when you arrive. The property photos don’t show this, but the hosts have installed mini split air-conditioner wall units near the ceilings in the bedrooms and on the main floor. It takes a few minutes to understand how to operate the hand-held remotes, but our hosts explained the settings. These units work quickly to cool a room very comfortably should you need to use them. As stated in the property description, Pigeon Cove and downtown Rockport are all within walking distance. All walking paths are on asphalt or concrete sidewalks and paths. Tip#3: Though not necessary, it’s nice to have a small flashlight handy, or the flashlight on your smart phone, when walking the sidewalks at night due to the occasional tree root that raises the asphalt surface here and there. It’s not a big ordeal, but the additional small light source was helpful for me walking back from dinners in Bearskin Neck. Happy to recommend a stay at Pigeon Hill!
