It was within minutes of everything we were doing in Portland. Only wish there was a common living area inside the house but if you are doing things and just need a spot to sleep and shower it’s a nice place with individual bathrooms for each bedroom. Parking was very nice and off the road by quite a bit.

We were there from Tuesday to Thursday. Check in was super easy. I didn't read the descriptions carefully enough and thought the property was going to be something different, but that's on me. I feel like it should clarify there's no common area or kitchen, and the jacuzzi is the bathtub, not an outdoor spa.

Where to begin?! First off, this unit is really just 3 separate hotel like rooms with no common space … the first of 3 rooms is directly off the main house door which is glass paned and completely see through. Each bedroom has a locking code to enter - upon entering the downstairs bedroom door … the handle literally fell off in my hand leaving the door unable to latch close. Next I went to the downstairs bathroom where I discovered trash already in the receptacle and a very long black hair draped across the edge of the bathtub. I then went to sit on bed and although the bed looked neatly made there were visible long hairs on the surface of the duvet. Tried plugging in my charger by the nightstand and could see something spilled against the wall that was never cleaned … at this point my radar is going off but decided to overlook it. Minutes later my daughter came from the upstairs bedroom to tell me there was fecal matter left in her toilet. Feces is where I draw the line on staying anywhere. Tried multiple times communicating with property owner and all I was told was that he “would look into it and get back to me” and after checking out 2 hours into our stay and requesting a refund I was told to contact the VRBO platform. The property owner showed no concern and did not offer to have the bedroom door fixed, just apologized. To access the unit you have to walk through a courtyard off the main house and there are no exterior lights to help you see. Large and noticeable stains on the bedroom floor that were not included in pictures. If you have more than one vehicle with you parking is also tricky as there is limited off street parking. Still waiting for a resolution from The property owner … hopefully this honest review saves someone else from The trouble I experienced.

Very nice property in a nice neighborhood, but it’s really only three hotel rooms. No kitchen or common area. Not a home or gathering place for friends. Really only provides a place to sleep and bathe. It would have been nice if that were more clear in the description.

Good property to stay. It does not have a full kitchen but the reason we took it was we did not need it. Comfortable beds, good showers. Good coffee maker and small fridge. Great location and great place for people on the move. And can easily fit 3 couples there.

Would have been better if the weather was not SO Stormy.

The rooms were very nice and an added bonus was that every room had a bathroom. The outdoor space was also nice for being able to gather.

The place was exactly as described. Great place if you only need bedrooms. Our family of five slept comfortably. Would stay here again.

My family (spouse and 2 sons) really enjoyed the Carriage House. As mentioned in the description, it consists of 3 en suite bedrooms (2 upstairs and 1 downstairs). They are decorated w antique furniture and gorgeous modern bathrooms.
It is on a very quiet residential street, 2 blocks to a commercial street (Broadway) where we’d recommend getting breakfast from the Twisted Croissant or the Travel Cafe (their travel bar is delish).

Beautiful property but a few negatives
Loved the location and the rooms were lovely, as was the courtyard. Because of the constant rain, we were unable to use the courtyard, which left us with no play to gather other than in our bedrooms, which did not work well (not enough seating for 6 adults in any one room). Our room did not have a bath mat or any hand towels or washcloths and the TV did not work. I contacted the owner right away but could not get any response from him other than a request for "more time" to get the needed items to us. But they never came. The deposit was extremely large and it took almost two weeks for it to be refunded to us, during which time interest accrued to us. That was a big negative for us. And, because of the constant rain during our stay, we were unable to gather in the courtyard space, which left us (6 adults) trying to crowd into one of the bedrooms when we wanted to be together as a group. Someplace sheltered from the rain would be nice.
Other than those negatives, we loved the building and the location and the super comfy beds and cleanliness of it all.

We enjoyed our stay in the carriage house. It was clean and comfortable and we liked having our own bathrooms. It’s conveniently located and in a beautiful neighborhood. The host checked in on us on our first day and responded quickly to our questions. It was a lovely long weekend

At first we were struck that there were no common living areas but upon rereading the description we discovered none were promised. But each family member had their own bedroom AND bathroom and this worked out well. I would stay here again based on the superb location. We walked to everything we needed.

Our family came from California and Arizona to meet our new grandchild and stayed at the Portland’s White House guest house. It was every bit as clean and charming as the pictures. We had the entire house to ourselves and it made for a great family stay! The neighborhood is beautiful and if you love historic homes you will be thrilled. Since we will be visiting more often now my husband and I have decided that this will be our go to place. Thanks Bill!

Great little spot in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood. The rooms are located in a separate building next to the house in the picture and as a guest you have access to this building and an outdoor patio area but not the main house. The three rooms were nice with each one having its own keypad lock for privacy. The only common area is the patio previously mentioned which is located between the main house and the cottage. It had a table and chairs as well as additional chairs located around the patio so it had seating for all guests. It is private and is not visible from the street or surrounding houses (but is visible to the main house). It was very hot the weekend we stayed and the patio was comfortable in the morning but would probably not be very usable in the heat of a hot day or if it was cold or rainy. The house is in easy walking distance to the Main Street in the area where there are places to eat and drink. All told, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Beautiful picture of a house that you are not renting. In reality you get the mother-in-law quarters. No amenities like a kitchen, fridge or microwave. No living room or inside common area. Basically 3 nice bedrooms and 3 bathrooms in a quiet neighborhood. Additionally the location is within walking distance of a number of restaurants. Unfortunately for us they were not responsive to early / late check in times as requested via email.
