The Lodge was located in a quiet village just 2.5 miles away from Whitby, which was excellent as Whitby was so busy. Easy to get into Whitby and driving to other locations like Robin Hood Bay, The Staithes, Scarborough, Pickering, Saltburn by Sea. The house was end terrace and had lovely beams and stone work inside which was really attractive. The front garden was well kept and I could let my dog out without worrying she would get out & with the sun being in the garden from morning to evening you can enjoy breakfast/evening meal outside on the bench table (if you are lucky with the weather which fortunately we were). No problem parking. Wouldn't hesitate to book again!
Whilst it was very clean unfortunately inside the kitchen cupboards when opened they did smell damp and this went through the lounge, not sure what could/can be done to rectify this. There was no mirror in the twin bedroom. Having said this I would not hesitate to go back it was a lovely place.

Location not too far out of Whitby, we walked in on one of the days but it can be costly if you need to get a taxi after a night out. Such a shame the bus service to this lovely village was cut. The house was clean and tidy, plenty big enough for two people, the heating worked well and the thermostat was not complicated to use and the house did not take long to get warm. A bonus too ...comfy sofas to relax on in the evening! Wifi signal worked well. Mattress on the double bed was soft but it was comfortable enough for the few nights we were there and it's always a plus for us if there is a bath tub rather than just a shower. Plenty of storage for clothing but could do with a full length mirror in one of the bedrooms. Overall, this is a great holiday let with all the facilities you could need.
Minor issues but they still need mentioning...If these minor things are sorted, you've got a great little rental property! The toilet seat needs addressing ...it's very loose, you can end up sliding sideways off it because it is not fixed to the toilet properly and the lid is very problamatic, you need to catch it in just the right position to get it stay up. The novelty of trying to derobe your bottom half with one hand whilst holding the seat up with the other hand then trying to turn round to plonk yourself wore off pretty quickly - speaking from the woman's point of view. The other half wasn't feeling it either when trying to unzip, point and pee whilst making sure the seat didn't catch him out! Another small issue is the ledge/shelf above the sink in the kitchen that contains various bottles of salt, vinegar etc ...these all had a layer of kitchen grime on them that had abviously been there some time. The kitchen is so well equipped with glasses, mugs, plates, bowls etc that there is nowhere to put any food. Not everybody eats out when staying in self catering. Reducing that down to leave a cupboard empty so customers food items are not taking up space on the worktops might be worth considering?

The location was perfect. It was in a lovely quiet village. The property was very well equipped, kitchen and bathroom were spotlessly clean and so were the towels, bedding and beds. We did however notice a few cobwebs and the lounge was a little dusty. Fortunately as everything else was pretty much perfect it did not spoil our stay in any way.
Nothing.
