Charming setting at the base of a mountain 1 mile off Ring Road. Farmhouse converted to B2B with family still living there. Cozy room, decent breakfast. Beautiful views of the ocean, mountains, glacier above. Nice owner who showed us pix of the 2010 volanco eruption nearby. About 20 min from Vik and good place to base for southern coast exploration.
Breakfast was a little crowded when everyone came at once. Pricey but probably everything is in late August.

The host Ena was really nice - he made the stay! I enjoyed my stay here despite being a little apprehensive about the shared bathroom, (normally I book places with your own bathroom but everywhere was already fully booked), but the upstairs shared bathroom was light, large and clean. Danitza who greeted and welcomed us was also friendly. Continental breakfast (8am - 10am) was simple but adequate, with nice homemade bread and homemade rhubarb jam. Good wifi, and great location for nearby hikes on Solheimajokul glacier.
At 350 euros a night for a place with a shared bathroom, I thought this was well overpriced, even for Iceland standards. We have stayed in places in Iceland on the South coast where for 300 euros a night you have your own modern villa (2 beds, own kitchen, washer etc). If this was 100 euros cheaper, I think it would be fairer and I would have given it 5 stars instead (because the hosts are so nice). Booked this as everywhere else was fully booked. I think if you had a downstairs room, the rooms would not be as nice (downstairs bathroom was older, darker, and needed reno)...They are also planning on having an igloo next door to provide extra accommodation - seems out of place - it would be better to have renovate the old barn / farmhouse next door on their property to keep in keeping with the area. One thing which was very odd; was that upon arrival, the grumpy-looking uncle who owns the property was sitting in the small lounge room, taking up the whole area, watching TV on loud, with his feet up on the footstool, slippers up and pointing them at you upon arrival - one of the first things you experience when you are shown round the property.

Lovely hostess. Good checkin, breakfast the next morning. Saw the Aurora that night.
The beds were just ok comfort wise. I felt they were no representative of the price being paid. Also the shower in the first floor is a danger. It’s in a high sided bathtub that is so slick. Even the nonslip mat was slipping. I’m fit and athletic and after slipping twice decided I’d be safer just sitting down.
