The Malthouse

A wonderful, cosy pub in a beautiful location. We arrived early afternoon and were immediately made to feel welcome, spending a happy afternoon in a comfortable space that was well equipped for us to be able to use laptops to finish off bits of work. Everything was clean and the basic amenities of tea, coffee (and bonus biscuits!) were great. The EV charger (one charger, with space to charge two vehicles simultaneously) was convenient and easy to use. The pub itself has the feel of a foodie pub and we were chuffed to make use of their 'early saver' menu, which was fantastic value: great quality, hearty food, for just under £10 each. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, and to recommend it to others.

It wasn't a major thing, given our room was very comfortable and equipped with space to work from, but as the pub itself was set up solely for dining, it was missing a potential 'sit around' lounge area that you could enjoy as a guest without feeling pressured to opt for food. Also, whilst it didn't affect our stay, if you're easily bothered by noise then it's worth highlighting that was a significant amount of noise that travelled between rooms.

just spent 4 nights at the Malthouse and arrived earlier on Sunday before check in time so had a sunday dinner which was excellent, the rooms were a nice size and comfortable,every member of staff we met were lovely and helpful and the lady who checked us in even helped with our luggage, breakfast selection was great and cooked perfecly, the evening meal we had was also perfect, it is in a quiet location but there is a bus stop almost outside the door if you want to travel into Sowerby bridge or Halifax, the rooms are reached via 2 fairly steep staircases which was alright for us but something to bear in mind if you have a mobility issue

only that the walls were a little thin and could hear everything in neighbouring room

Been here many times absolutely love it! Everything is wonderful, staff, food,accomodation and breakfast is fabulous! Cant wait to return !

Loved everything no negatives

Food was lovely, little bit on the expensive side but was nice. Breakfast was really lovely. Bed was comfy & room was clean. There was tea & coffee available in the room although the coffee wasn't great, maybe think about changing this out ? Also a mug would of been preferred not a tiny cup! Staff were friendly and helpful.

The noise from the road outside was really loud, I know its not the hotels fault ... but if we were to stay here again I would ask for a room at the rear of the hotel. The bathroom needed some TLC! The toilet was wobbly and the shower was not great. Having to climb in over a high bath is not good, I'm only short so it was a struggle, my husband on the other hand is 6'1 so his head was almost at the ceiling when in the shower!! Maybe redo the bathroom with just a walk in shower would be a massive improvement. The hairdryer was like using a nematic drill it was shaking so much! This needs to be replaced ASAP! A few comfy chairs wouldn't go a miss to relax in after dinner
