Simply gorgeous! Inside and out, Sprucewold is a gem of a house. We loved the redone interior that retains a cabin feel. We had everything we needed and there was plenty of space for our 3 adults and 3 teens. The proximity to Boothbay Harbor shops and restaurants and the Botanical Gardens was great, even as the house is tucked away in the serenity of the woods. Just perfect for what we wanted and needed!
It was a bit tricky to back our large minivan out of the driveway.

Communication with the property rental company prior to arrival was great. The cabin is cute. It sits on top of a hill so accessing the private beach or the public beach requires a hike. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. The beds are comfortable. At first glance it's super clean and well kept. The neighborhood is quiet and the view from the porch is beautiful. Lots of towels, use of washing machine, great hot water.
The door code is exceptionally long! The beach access is to a very quaint and tiny private beach. I was hoping to be able to take walks along the beach in the morning but the beach is not that kind of beach. The listing says the SINGULAR AC unit is in the master bedroom. IT ISN'T!!!! The AC unit is behind the sofa, making sitting on the sofa challenging when you want to cool the cabin. If we knew the AC was in the living room and not the bedroom we WOULD NOT HAVE BOOKED this cabin- we are hot sleepers. Next biggest issue was there are no dressers to unpack in the master bedroom and no closet. We had to keep our luggage in the living room on a chair and couldn't unpack because there was no where to unpack. The lighting in the master bedroom was one small lamp. (with a loose lampshade.) No over head light and not other lamps. Just a singular low light bulb. The lighting near the coffee pot is also awkward- but THE ABSOLUTELY MOST DISGUSTING AND WORST THING WE DIDN'T DISCOVER UNTIL WE CHECKED OUT! WHILE STRIPPING THE BED WE FOUND HUGE STAINS ON THE MATTRESS PROCTER PAD- IT WAS SO DISGUSTING!!!!! KNOWING MY CHILD SLEPT ON THAT GIVES ME THE CREEPS. WHEN I SESNT PICS AND NOTIFIED VACASA ALL THEY SAID WAS "WE'LL SEND A LOCAL TEAM" Even with photo evidence. It's been over 24 hours since I sent them the pics and message and I've gotten no additional response or info. So although the cabin looked very clean and even thought the lighting is awful on the master and even though there WAS NO DRESSER OR CLOSET IN THE MASTER THAT WAS AVAILABLE, I would've said this was great- but those nasty stains make it not okay with me.
