Such a beautiful property and the location was peaceful and perfect!

Everything was amazing

There’s no doubting that this is a wonderful little cabin in a truly unique setting. We experienced two extraordinary sunsets overlooking the lake and loved relaxing in the hot tub after long days of hiking and exploring. The location feels wonderfully remote and peaceful, while still being close enough to several of Iceland’s main sights, making it a brilliant base for exploring. We chose to make the most of the cabin and cooked dinner there on both nights, ensuring we didn’t miss a moment of the incredible scenery.

There are a few things worth knowing when booking that would have helped us plan and manage our expectations. Firstly, several new properties are being built along the track, so it isn’t quite as remote as Google Maps or the listing had led us to believe. The neighbouring properties are completely hidden from view when you're inside though, and we couldn’t see them while using the outdoor tub etc. The flies were more of an issue. We’re very used to midges and summer insects, but there were a significant number around the outdoor tub area. I assume the outdoor storage is used for bins, this was a less-than-romantic addition to the thermal bath experience! The cabin could benefit from a little more care and attention. It was clearly built to a luxury standard, but some areas don't feel maintained to that level. The textured surfaces collect dust, which was particularly noticeable above the shower, and there was dirt gathered in the gaps and corners. Given how exceptionally clean everywhere else in Iceland felt, this was quite surprising. It’s also worth noting that the “blackout blinds” aren’t fully blackout and only cover the lower, square sections of the windows. During summer, when it never became properly dark, I was very glad I’d brought an eye mask. The windows face the road and, although it isn’t especially busy, cars do pass regularly. People can see directly into the bedroom, shower and bath areas, which means choosing between privacy and keeping the blinds open to enjoy the incredible view. We had expected the windows might have some kind of mirrored finish or privacy film, so this was a shame. Overall, it didn’t feel quite as luxurious as we had hoped. It is still a fantastic space in an extraordinary location, and we would likely stay again and recommend it. With a little more attention to the cleaning, maintenance and privacy, it could be truly exceptional.

Ein wunderbarer Ort, um abzuschalten. Der Hotspot, ein Traum, gross und wieder zu heiss ist noch zu kaltes Wasser. Die ganze Unterkunft ist sehr gepflegt. Tolle Betten und gute Kommunikation mit dem Gastgeber

Le logement est vraiment beau mais lorsqu’on regarde de plus près il mériterait un grand coup d’entretien en profondeur : -propreté du sol acceptable -joints de la douche sales et pas entretenus -forte odeur de remontée d’égout provenant de la baignoire -joints du carrelage dans la chambre/sdb complètement cassés -robineterie de la douche et évier de la sdb instables -four, plaque, grille, sales, collantes en mauvais état -placard mal rangé, tout est empilé et tombe lorsqu’on ouvre -pas de linge pour essuyer la vaisselle -nous avons dû vider le lave-vaisselle des précédents voyageurs -le frigo se ferme mal ce qui fait que le petit congélateur est totalement rempli de glace -hot pot sale, peu entretenu -les plaids et coussins du canapé ont une forte odeur de « jamais lavé » -table du salon plein de saleté granuleuse dessus et de trace de verre -pas d’apres-shampoing fourni -il est indiqué qu’aucun mot de passe est nécessaire pour le wifi mais nous avons quand même dû envoyer un message à l’hôte pour lui dire qu’un mot de passe était demandé (cela lui avait déjà été signalé dans les précédents commentaires !) Toutes ces choses n’ont pas gâchés notre séjour mais au vue du prix, nous avons été très déçus. Nous avons fait d’autres logements du type durant notre voyage et les prestations étaient beaucoup plus à la hauteur et dépassaient simplement « le design » d’une maison.
