Really had easy access to downtown locations.
The bed is small & a bit tight to move around. Also I had to keep the noise to the minimum so as not to disturb my roommates.

The neighborhood is really lively, and I loved that because if you want to eat something, spend time, have fun, you have the chance to do it, but all those people outside the building makes you think twice about staying at Samesun

Pretty central location. Right next to Chinatown. Booming nightlife on the hostel street and delicious food. You won't go hungry here. The hostel was nice enough although the price for a private room was a bit steep, comparable to a small hotel or motel but with no private bathroom/shower.
No complaints about the hostel, but the area? While it was very lively (felt a lot like a bar street in SE Asia) and decently placed within the city, there are some pretty sketchy people around.
Pretty sure I saw a couple shooting up a few doors down in broad daylight.

There is free breakfast every morning from 8-10am, it consists of bagels, fruit and cereals + hot beverages. The staff were extremely friendly upon on arrival, they also allowed me to store my luggage in their storage room on the last day of my stay (i had a late flight and later collected). They also have a charger port and reading light block on each bed. There were lockers in the rooms (but need your own lock and key). There are also very easy transport links (streetcars/trams stops within walking distance). There is also a range of selected fast food restrurants nearby! :)
I found that the bathrooms were very small for a shared space with other people on that floor (two toilets and two showers) both located in separate areas located approximately a few metres from my room. The showers weren’t clean, there was mould and other guests would leave rubbish and body hairs within the shower and sink areas. There’s no lifts, just 3 flights of stairs (not ideal for lots of luggage). I didn’t feel there was anywhere really to change clothing, despite the showering area being the only available location (it didn’t feel 100% private as anyone could walk in at a given time although there were curtains these could be drawn open easily). Moving onto the room, I stayed in a 4-bed (all female dorm) it was quite small, despite being designed for 4 occupants. The door was extremely squeaky and would often cause me to wake. The temperature is also at a fixed number and can not be altered, so did become increasingly warm during the night (wear thin nightwear). The beds were okay, comfortable, they are metal so made noise upon movement (especially top bunks), the sheets were clean but i think the curtains could do with an upgrade since some were ripped and quite loose so didn’t always stay in position. I clipped mine together with a hair grip for extra privacy. Lastly, I will comment on the area. THIS WAS A VERY IMPORTANT FACTOR WHICH I’D WISH I’D KNOWN PRIOR. it’s very unsafe, it’s loud and busy, located in the market, and over the road is a large group of drug users, smokers, homeless people and gang members (presumably) which can be extremely off-putting when people are laid in the middle of the pathway half-nude with flies around them — it also stunk quite heavily in a morning of smoke and unpleasantry waste and human faeces.
