The owners seemed to have thought of everything from the provided crockery, cookware etc. to the presence of hooks on doors. They had left some much-appreciated personal touches - a bottle of Prosecco, fresh milk in the fridge and fresh flowers in the rooms. The house was beautifully decorated throughout with a bright and relaxing colour scheme.
The only problems we had were with the thickness of pillows and the duvet tog (too warm), but those are difficult things to get right for everyone.

Lovely old town cottage
The booking was tricky as booking.com wouldn’t let me extend my stay so I had to book 2 seperate bookings and it took ages for anyone to respond to my messages

Lovely comfortable little cottage in Lewes, ideally placed for our needs. Well fitted out kitchen and sunny courtyard. Lewes itself has good choice of eateries, supermarkets and shops. Parking nearby.
extra hand towel in bathroom would be the only suggestion

Stylish bijou terrace house within a few minutes of the shops and pubs and restaurants of historic Lewes. The house is attractively decorated and clearly a lot of thought and effort and money has gone into the fit-out. Dog-friendly, with a useful back yard. Some nice welcoming touches on arrival: fresh cut flowers, cookies, plus tea, coffee, milk etc, as well as simple and clear visitor instructions.
Although the house is stylish and generally looks lovely, it isn't comfortable, which is a problem, particularly if the weather is poor and you can't be out and about all the time. The small lounge has one uncomfortable armchair plus a very small, shallow sofa, so no possibility of lounging about and relaxing. The kitchen-diner, although functional, is poorly designed and has terrible lighting, so not somewhere you'd want to linger. Upstairs, again, looks great, with period-style bedroom furniture, but the mattresses are unforgiving. The bathroom is also period-style and very handsome but the shower is over the bath and isn't thermostatically controlled so you spend a lot of time fiddling with the bath taps. Plus the shower is fixed so there's no way of cleaning the bath without getting a jug from the kitchen. There's also nowhere to put any toiletries in the bathroom.
