The location was really beautiful. No traffic noise. Host was very responsive and helpful. Beds were comfy. Cottage very clean. Good size for 2 people (would be small for 4). Towel and blanket for dog were appreciated. Nicely stocked kitchen with lovely crockery. Lap trays helpful as no dining table.

Access to drive way is awfully tight. Made parking the car such a stress and meant we didn’t want to move it once it was in. Starter kindling that was left was wet so not suitable for the fire. After complaining to the host and asking if she would bring some dry kindling the next day, she did bring a big bag. We couldn’t get any hot water in the bath on arrival. We were told by the host that we needed to change the dials on the boiler (I feel this should have been done for us before we arrived) so we did but still only got luke warm water. This meant we couldn’t use the bath the first day and as we were only staying for 3 nights, this was a big chunk of our stay. The following morning the water was still only warm but I really wanted a bath so I persevered. It definitely wasn’t the nice bath I had envisioned when booking the property. The host offered to organise a plumber but that felt very disruptive to our stay so I sent her a photo of the boiler instead and she said the issue was the boiler pressure and she came round and topped it up. This improved the temperature of the water but it still wasn’t as hot as you’d expect. If we were staying longer, I’d have had to accept the plumber coming round. Only 2 dishwater tablets left for a 3 night stay and no plug in the sink to do washing up. Very small towels. Neighbours walk straight past front window to get to their house and did so over and over again, spoiling the peace a little. Overall we have stayed in better cottages for a lot cheaper but we did have a nice time.

Everything!! The attention to detail was amazing.. location was perfect for our stay.. stunning village, great pubs for food and wine...would definitely return.

A beautifully presented, cosy and charming cottage, set in an idyllic, picturesque village. The cottage itself is lovely, full of character, and has all the makings of a wonderful stay. The charming log fire was a particular attraction when booking, especially for a cosy autumn getaway. The cottage has a wonderful atmosphere, and the owners have clearly put considerable thought into its appearance and presentation.

The overall lovely experience was let down by just a few things.. One of the reasons I booked the cottage was the charming log fire. On a particularly cold first evening, I enquired about additional logs and was told: “We provide enough for your first night, and if you get through the supply, we kindly ask that you pick up more locally…” I found this surprising. At this price point I would expect that sufficient firewood should be provided for the duration of the stay. The listing photographs suggest a generous supply, with no obvious mention of a restriction. Other small details were disappointing: no milk on arrival and insufficient toilet rolls for the 3 night stay. Whilst I understand this is self catering, such items are usually provided for the duration of a stay in such properties. I’m mindful this is a pet friendly property and that may explain the faint unpleasant smell around the sofa and cushions, (possibly pet odour). The guest booklet would benefit from more details - it was beautifully presented but it felt more promotional than practical - lacked Information about local shops and opening hours, local pub and restaurant opening days and hours, and details on nearby attractions (all of which would have been helpful).

The cottage itself is nice. Upstairs really nice, beds comfy and really quiet, ideal location.

Outside area looks really nice on photos yet deceiving, seating area had cushions out when we got there and it had been raining so they were wet through/dirty, unusable for the entirety of our stay. Lights and extractor fan in the bathroom didn’t work, bear in mind these are downstairs so not ideal.. downstairs also smelt of dog when we arrived, upstairs was fine. No oil, milk or butter provided which I’d say are pretty essential for a cottage getaway. Also pictures show bubble bath and candles which weren’t available
