The rooms are small and dark. Can’t tell if it’s night or day. But clean, comfortable and quiet. Best part is lobby restaurant, live music and comfortable library area. Good service and location.

The hotel was really cute. Loved the decor and location. However, a lot to be desired. No hot water, no soap in the bathrooms to shower with, electrical outlets did not work in the bathroom to dry my hair and my room key was deactivated right at 11 even though we asked for a late check out.

Smaller and less crowded option. Very good lobby, comfortable and good options for pastries and coffees. Helpful staff. Overall good experience.

Great location near Museum of Natural History. Columbia University, Central Park, many restaurants, and subway and bus transport. Rooms on 77th St side contend with late nite fire house sirens. Wood and metal furniture is non-functional, no tub and inadequate shower head, and one of two elevators on one side of hotel broken for several days. Fun live entertainment several nights a week, and a breakfast/lunch bar that’s a liquor bar at nite are additional attractions.

The Arthouse is a beautifully styled UWS boutique hotel. THe rooms are a good size, clean and comfy. The staff are superb, polite, friendly and helpful. The location is great, a short walk to Riverside or Central Park and easy subway routes to the city and downtown

The room was amazing with a beautiful view, but it lacked closet space, a full length mirror, and the bathroom was very small. Otherwise it was comfortable.

I lived in this area for many years in the past so I booked this hotel. Mostly I had a nice experience, and the guy at Concierge, Vivek was very nice. However, the maid in this hotel was dreadful. I normally put "do not disturb" sign and occasionally ask for cleaning. The particular maid, who seemed to be a Vietnamese, walked into my room, extremely loud, talking to a few others on the phone extremely loud, as if I do not exist, and she was making huge sound in the bathroom dropping stuff all over - basically this maid had no manner, and acted extremely rough, bossing around. There was a lot of dust on the floor, so the brushing was absolutely necessary, but she put liquid chemical all over the floor extremely roughly (my suitcase was open, and she didn't care), basically the dust and the chemical was mixed and it was filthy, and disgusting. And the way she talked to me was extremely rude so I bursted out and asked her to leave the room finally. I've had a lot of maids at many hotels as I travel, but never encountered such a rude, filthy person. What's outrageous is that I get a phone call from the concierge that I cannot come back to this hotel because I treated her badly? How rude & unfair this hotel is to treat the customer this way? First before they confront the customer, they should know who they are hiring. The floor is still filthy, and my slipper is now sticky. This unfair treatment infuriates me. NEVER COMING BACK. Be weary of mouse t the lobby I've witnessed

Spacious and comfortable room. Great location. The cafe/bar downstairs is very popular making it easy to stay at the hotel and enjoy your coffee or drink in the afternoon.

We had a two night stay and overall had a good stay. There are no negatives but for out of towners remember your in New York City. Our room was clean and comfortable and a decent size. The staff was pleasant. I would recommend and I would stay here again.

Overall an ok hotel. Location on the west side was good. I liked our room, and we were upgraded to a room with a balcony and a view of the river which was nice. The bed was comfortable, the pillows were just average. The shower was nice and warm. I did not like the gym at all, it was in the basement with no windows, limited equipment, and what they had was old and rusty. The staff was very helpful. I would stay here again if it was convenient to what I was doing in Manhattan.

The first room we checked in had a mouse, so they moved us to another room. The person at the front desk (Fatima) was really friendly and tried to be helpful but it took them pretty long time to find another room. Every time we tried to check on it, I had to go downstairs, bc the phone in the room didn't work to call the front desk. The room they gave us was smaller (queen) than what we paid for (king), so they promised to find us yet another room in the morning. Tried to take a shower in the morning, took a really long time to get warm water, it kept coming cold. Mid morning switched rooms again. That room was king, but had brown water for the next two days we stayed. Trying to call front desk from the room phone was not an option either, the receiver was there but not connected to the base, just sitting there for decoration. We also had some food and we requested a fridge. On the morning when we had to move rooms yet again (from queen to king) I told them we really needed to go, we were late, and couldn't wait for somebody to come and take the fridge. They promised they'll do it. Came back, the food is in the room but no fridge, it was all just in the trash bag sitting on the table. Another call to the front desk. So for all the inconvenience, especially for the mouse in the room on the first night, they said they are not going to charge us for that first night. I just checked with Expedia, the refund was NOT approved. WTH?! But guess what? The staff is friendly (eye roll)

The stay was as expected. The water at the bathroom sink was either cold or too scalding hot. Was not able to mix water. The hotel was under staffed and check in and any other time that needed to talk to the front desk I had to stay in long time in line. Also there were no one at the front door and with that we were harassed by a homeless while we were having some coffee at the lobby. Homeless were harassing no only me but other guests until I had to call from help. Not sure if I will stay here again after that.

I was charged an extra 39$US fee for coffee, wifi and water… for the price that I payed for my stay is not worth it … any other hotel offers it for free.

I enjoy the arthouse for the location and size of the room. However, I never get upgraded even when I know there are more open rooms. My Expedia membership allows for that. They also conveniently forgot to give me food credit unless I ask. I know NY is expensive, but that is some hard core skimping.

The property itself is very nice, we had a few issues with our room. The hot water was almost obsolete and absolutely no water pressure. It took me 20 minutes to fill the tub and by that time the water was cold. The bathroom sink wouldn’t drain because the stopper was stuck closed and there was no body wash but they did bring some of that.

Check in stated 4:30 p.m. but the room was not ready until 8:30 p.m. We had bought a deal that included a coffee and pastry for breakfast but we were scolded loudly in front of other guests when we asked about it as if we were in the wrong for asking. I only knew about it due to an email they sent. Staff was a mixed bag some were nice others thought that explaining their titles made a difference to a customer that does not care what each position does in a GM vs operations manager, that was not my concern, nor did I need to be schooled on it. Stating your name is enough. The loud individual did take off a small amount $44 off the $554 for the one night. It was a nice gesture but did not excuse the 4 hours we could not access the room.

Hotel was in a great location. Very convenient to Central Park the 1 train, and lots of great restaurants. The hotel also has tenants that live in the building. Our neighbor next door had an animal, or human urine stain (in NYC, you never know for sure). It smelled horrible. I made guest services aware of the issue three separate occasions, but nobody appeared to care enough to take care of the issue. It was absolutely disgusting. The entire 4th floor smelled once you got off the elevator. But for this issue, the hotel would have been enjoyable.

I’m not sure what qualifies this as a 4 star hotel. The location in the upper west side of manhattan is convenient and it is in a historic building, however the upkeep, amenities, and general design are not what I would consider to be a 4star experience. The hotel has two sets of questionable elevators, the rooms are not well insulated and the bathroom has no heat at all. The guest and bath rooms themselves give more of a high end hostel feel rather than a hotel. The room and bath sizes are very nice for New York and everything appeared well cleaned, it just had no real amenities, dispensers for bath products, angel soft (1ply) tissues and toilet paper, and one towel set per person. The wood counter sliver next to the industrial stainless sink, and the dingy and outdated tub shower were just ok, and I don’t even want to mention the child sized pillows (4 pillows that were smaller than standard). All in all, it was a fine stay but I clearly don’t understand how hotels earn stars because I’d rate it on the same level as a Tru by Hilton. Had your basics but did not try to go above at all. $40 “urban fee” gets you 2 bottles of nestle bottled water and that’s it. Not even a mini fridge in the room, ice bucket in the dingy closet.

The Arthouse hotel is lovely set in a quiet neighbourhood close to central park and a metro 2 blocks away, the rooms are clean and modern and the beds are large and very comfortable. There is also a coffee shop in the lobby very convenient for those early starts before exploring also turns into a bar for the evenings.
