I can't say enough good things about The George. After falling in love with Edinburgh last year, we returned to the city and the hotel who made our stay extra special.
The staff it wonderful and truly make you feel like you're home - whether they wish you a good day or welcome you back after a long day of walking up and down hills. We were greeted with smiles at every turn.
Rooms were spacious and comfortable. We had a lovely room that looked up to the castle. Great showers, great room amenities, and cozy beds.
We plan to return next year!!!

Great service and room with a view. Accommodated room change request, stored luggage, and concierge provided great help with castle tickets and special need for medical device delivery.

Love this hotel. The lobby staff was warm, friendly and very helpful in recommending great restaurants and making reservations (Thanks Hal!) The rooms were very quiet, beds quite comfortable. The included breakfast was fabulous, we had it every day and it kept us full until dinner. The location is the best thing - great shopping and dining (directly across the street from The Dome) on George Street and just a super short walk to Waverley, the Castle and Old Town.
I would definitely stay there again next time I’m lu my enough to be in Edinburgh!

Wonderful hotel. Panoramic view of the Firth of Forth from our room stunning.
The only irritation was music in the breakfast room. Staff bent over backwards to consider us but it didn’t stop the music.

We visit Edinburgh once a year & have stayed in various locations. We booked the Intercontinental based on the location as we were planning to be in New Town more for this visit. We were checked in quickly with all relevant information passed on & found our room to be lovely.
We had already planned our visit so other than breakfast we did not eat at the hotel, however breakfast was exceptional. Amar in the restaurant made sure each day that all was well & was very attentive. The food for breakfast was well cooked & hot - we both mentioned it was the best hotel breakfast we had eaten.
Having stayed in many hotels we will most definitely return to the intercontinental & would highly recommend it to all as it had everything spot on - Thankyou.
We were actually there for my husbands birthday & we were treated to an upgrade to the club room one morning for breakfast. I don’t believe you were aware of that, but it made the break even more memorable - Thankyou

This is a beautiful hotel in a perfect location. I stayed here last May and loved it so much I returned last week. The old town of Edinburgh is a short walk away, while the hotel, itself, is on the edge of the new town with many great shops, pubs and restaurants from which to choose. The staff is very friendly and management truly aims to please.
You won't be disappointed with this choice and personally, I am already looking forward to my return!

Great location and friendly staff. Shame the room was cold for 3hrs on arrival due to the heating not working but eventually this was rectified after asking twice.

This is not really five stars, or not by American standards. There are flights of stairs within floors, so hard for people with mobility issues. Heat didn’t work in our room, a computer problem in the end, but took a long time to sort out. Clothes hangers were broken and not checked. Room staff speak no English. TV has no premium channels, like Sky Sports, so good luck if snooker is not your fave. Staff were kind a tried, but this is not a five star experience, compared with eg Balmoral, and we paid close to $1000 per night.

Got stuck in a room by the door to the stairs which started to slam early in the morning. Woke us up every day. Shame everything else was perfect.

We stayed on a Saturday night and the noise from the nightclub over the road kept us awake until 4am. The hotel is nice. But nothing special.

The George is a lovely hotel with an attentive staff and a wonderful location. We were there for three nights and enjoyed our stay. The only thing we found wrong with our room was the shower. There were no hand bars and one needed a "helper" to get out of shower/tub. I am amazed that no one has been seriously hurt.

A wonderful hotel and the front of house service was amazing. The first room we were allocated had a sewerage smell and the front of house were quick to move us to a new room. The hotel room was lovely albeit on the very small side. Breakfast was delicious and great quality food

Fantastic luxurious hotel with great customer service.
Only disappointment was not being able to order bar food after 9pm to go with a drink. Plus no coffee either as machine wasn’t working.

What made this hotel special was the staff. The hotel is charming and maintained very well. The glue holding this facility together is the first class staff. When I arrived I was not feeling well and the front desk person could see that without discussion. At the moment a bellman was not available. She grabbed my bags and escorted me to my room. I appreciated that greatly. On every occasion of exiting and entering the building, the door staff greeted me. The concierge were very good and knew the right restaurants and tours. Nathan, was exceptional in hearing my needs and recommendations. The food in the dining room was very good and the service perfect. The location of the hotel could not be any better. Close to many of the sites and to local restaurants.
