This is a nice quaint hotel. Nothing is withing walking distance, so you need a taxi anytime you want to go into town or elsewhere. The road noise can be loud. Unfortunately, we did not know prior to going, but the restaurant is closed on Tuesdays for dinner, so we had to get a taxi to go elsewhere. With some work, this could be a really nice place to stay.
The views from up there are spectacular.

Very nice staff. Views from restaurant and pool looking over the harbor are terrific. Rooms housekeeping could be improved. Expect to take cabs everywhere as roads are narrow, very busy and curvy.

Overall a good stay and experience. Generally, area is not walkable, but served by taxis or rental cars and within 15-20 min of all attractions
Pros: very friendly staff, great views of Charlotte Amalie, great food at restaurant; fridge and microwave in room
Cons: terrible WiFi connectivity (was pretty good speed when it worked for very short bursts), no coffee maker in room or any cardboard cups to heat liquids and breakfast opens after 8 AM. Parking on street next to fast moving vehicles and slightly noisy in rooms due to vehicle traffic.

Super friendly and accommodating staff. Elise, Ella, and the rest of the staff are all great. They almost feel like family at the end of the trip.

The only downside is that if you have difficulty walking or climbing stairs this place is not for you otherwise our visit was excellent! Our room was lovely and clean and the staff were extremely pleasant. The view is worth the stay and we had a lovely balcony!

The view is excellent! The staff is friendly and the female bar tender was exceptionally nice. The problem is that there are sidewalks and the drivers speed around corners and curves with little regard to people trying to walk. The hotel advertised free breakfast, but that is only for one day. It would have been good to have several outside areas in the shade.

Very nice view, however, was on a very busy street, so we could hear traffic all night. Also, had no water one morning so we could not shower! Only other issue was that being up on the mountain, you are far from everything. And, taxis are so very expensive!!! Would not stay here again.

Okay, if you're looking for the Hilton or some other 5-star place, you're probably lost. This is a smaller, locally owned and operated, quaint place on the hill-side overlooking the bay. It was clean and pleasant. Downstairs is a restaurant with good food, great drinks, and plenty of folks to visit with around the bar.

The staff was fantastic made me feel really welcomed they even bumped me up to a delux suite. I was impressed since this was a surpprise anniversary trip for my wife. The view from my room was amazing, the restaurant view was even better and the food was fantastic. The staff was super helpful. Love this place we will be back.

i really enjoy the staff, friendly helpful. the service was great over all. however, the room can be upgraded a bit. the bathroom door we had to lift up to open so it don’t drag and make noise. the bed are way to soft for my liking. thru out the night my body would sink in. but room service came everyday gave us extra towels. the place is nice bc you are paying for view. it is amazing especially for dinner. but also prices for dinner for 2 were little pricey. you can go downtown and get cheaper good food too. it deft has its pro and cons. for my first time at this hotel enjoyed my stay and took in view. but now knowing staying here you need taxi EVERY WHERE. it’s best to say downtown and save alot of money of taxi

Overall I enjoyed my stay here. The price was right and I was even offered an upgrade. The rooms are definitely not the nicest, very outdated and let’s just say the ceilings are thin enough to hear exactly what the couple above you are doing.
All in all, I enjoyed my stay and had a great diner with some good drinks at the bar, which has an incredible view. I would go for the restaurant, but probably wouldn’t stay again.

Pros: AMAZING AMAZING views from all parts of the hotel. Nice pool with good view. The included breakfast is quite hearty and lots of choices.
Cons: Hard to get around if you are old or disabled...lots of narrow steep passageways and stairs. Was a dead huge cockroach in our suite. Also, I did not feel safe with the front door lock (weak) and patio doors (locks broken).

We arrived today from Florida. We had reservations at an Airbnb. We arrived to no power. I made a reservation online for Mafolie. When we arrived, they had upgraded our room. They were very kind and welcoming. The room was wonderful. We ate at the restaurant and it was delicious, with an amazing view. We will definitely stay here again!

Nice place but our air conditioner was making so much noise at night and didn't work very well it actually woke me up making me think there was a storm outside so I got up and looked just to find out it was just there air conditioning.the views are unreal and staff was great

The condition was poor at best.After checking at the front office, then making way to my room upon opening my door there was a big Roach next to my bed.The pictures on the travel web doesnt represents the true condition of the property.

My wife and I stayed at the Mafolie Hotel in St Thomas from October 4th through October 13th 2023 celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. Most of our vacations have been at all inclusive resorts, so one of our major concerns when booking our vacation was meals. On the Mafolie website it states "Complementary made to order breakfast" is included with your stay. I called the Hotel and they verified that cooked made to order breakfast was indeed included. So of course when we arrive for breakfast on our first morning there are english muffins, yogurt, cold cereal & a do it yourself waffle maker, not exactly a "Cooked to order breakfast." We were upset after counting on this! So then we were told that they might have breakfast the next morning. Well no, the next morning we were informed that we will not be receiving our breakfasts, that were included and promised during our stay.
This also happened to several other guests and their children who couldn't eat.
Quite frankly we were lied to and ripped off. BE WARNED!

The meals we enjoyed at the Mafolie Restaurant were outstanding and the service was lovely. We liked our room, especially the a/c in the master bedroom. The front desk folk were exceptional! We had to find another activity after the parasailing adventure was called off due to high winds. We got to swim with the dolphins! They called for the taxis and gave us lots of good tips. We liked the pool but the best part was the view.

Overall great place to stay with an awesome view. The parking spots at limited and there is limited time for food service. Staff was wonderful and would definitely return.

My stay at the Mafolie Hotel & Restaurant was amazing. The staff went above and beyond to ensure I had a great stay; especially Elizabeth & Steven! I had a gorgeous view from my room and the view from the restaurant was amazing as well; the complimentary breakfast was delicious. The property is well kept and the locals are friendly. Overall I enjoyed my stay and I will definitely be visiting again, soon!

Mafolie has amazing views and the location is excellent if you want to be close to downtown. I also really appreciated the helpfulness of the office staff who communicated well and are very accommodating.
The outside of this hotel is beautiful and has a lovely charm. But that did not overcome the inside of this hotel for me. The building is old and you feel it. There have been renovations but to me the building still felt old, musty and I did not like staying there.
Also, I do not think this hotel has a generator because I experienced several power outages, most at night. Outages are part of life in certain parts of the world and that’s okay, but I have never noticed them at any other hotel on St. Thomas, presumably because they had generators.
If you want beautiful views and don’t care about an outdated and musty interior then this is for you.

Tbh you’re really just paying for the view and the pool.. everything else felt short of expectations. I must add that the chubby caucasian lady at the front desk was so rude, somebody should let her know that if she always has an attitude she should not work there…
