The room was clean and the balcony to the back overlooking a stream and greenery was beautiful.
I just thought it was a tad overpriced at £91 without breakfast or dinner included. That said - it's not too far from the town centre (5 - 10 minute walk), nor the train station (15 min walk or so).
The free parking is useful; however, it's one of those horrible put-your-number-plate in.
The bar is small for a pub of its size, which doubles up as a reception at certain times, meaning you have to wait for a drink.
I did eat at the restaurant and the staff were keen to ensure that I had a good experience. The food was good too - cooked well and arrived quickly.

Great location, free parking and easy walk up to the small town centre and surrounding countryside. Staff were very helpful. Nice old property but a little dull sometimes and lacked character. Clean though. There were issues with water pressure, effecting showers etc. this was explained on arrival, so was not a surprise. Breakfast was unexciting and just ‘okay’ with overcooked scrambled eggs, dry bacon and a pot of beans that was more juice than beans. A comfortable stay despite the quibbles.

Room was excellent and staff very helpful. We booked in in a Saturday to be told breakfast was 10 on Sunday. On Monday we arrived for breakfast after 9 to be told that breakfast finished at 9 on weekdays. The staff were excellent and still provided a cooked breakfast.
