My first time staying at a hostel was better than expected but not as great as I had hoped for. This is great location to stay and see San Francisco on a budget and as a single traveler. Bus stops are within 2 blocks and markets and restaurants are a 1/2 block away.
Although very close to the proclaimed "dicey" Tenderloin district, the local unhoused residents were friendly and even helpful in finding my way around the neighborhood.
The staff did a great job at keeping common areas clean daily, (lounge, TV room, restrooms and showers). The sidewalk in front of the hotel was scrubbed with soap and water every morning; very nice as I found this area of San Francisco to be fairly dirty. I was aware of the location when I booked my stay so this as neither a surprise or a bother. Fresh and hot coffee and tea was available round the clock.
Easy check-in and out procedures. Access to the building was available 24/7, checking a bag with the front desk was very helpful as there is not much room in the units for more than a small bag with essentials that can be kept in the sleeping capsule.
- Easy and secure access to the building & common facilities.
- Showers and restrooms are clean and easily accessible.
- Great location for seeing San Francisco by walking or bus. (parking is a hassle anywhere in SF)
My only complaint is the bed was a thin mattress and not very comfortable and the room was stuffy, but reasonable considering I shared the room with 3 strangers.
