Great atmosphere with great staff

The staff were very welcoming and made me feel at ease as a lone traveler.
My room location was less than ideal at the very top of what seemed to be a never ending staircase, however the room itself was very nice, albeit a smell in the bathroom which smelt of drainage. It was however clean and spacious.
The breakfast and evening meal were great and again all staff lovely and helpful.

What a great place this is, full of character warm and friendly atmosphere and the staff were great. It was always busy with people eating and the food we had on both evening's was very good and the waiting staff excellent, we had breakfast both morning's which again was very good the only down side was there was no fresh fruit available in the breakfast room ( we didn't inquire if this was an option though ) the pub is ideally located for everything and there is parking available but on a first come first served basis although there is plenty of parking elsewhere. All in all we had a great stay and will be back next time we visit Richmond, we would definitely recommend the black lion as a great place to stay for sure.

Absolutely lovely hotel and beautiful clean well maintained room. All those extra touches like specialty teas and coffees and biscuits in the room and even top range soaps from Bradley all add up nake for a lovely stay.
Breakfast in the morning was excellent and the lunch we had on arrival was top notch.
Richmond is a lovely town with a lot to do and some excellent circular walks around the area.
Will certainly stop here again.
