The Knickerbocker Hotel was having an issue with their hotel key cards that lasted several days. I was only made aware of it AFTER I had checked in and paid for everything. Had they said something before - I would have reevaluated my wanting to stay. Not only was not having a key card a big inconvenience (security had to escort people to back to their rooms), the lack of care and communication was way below par.
On the morning of my departure, I tried to set up having my car parked in front by a valet attendant at a certain time. I asked the front desk as I was going to get breakfast with my family and they said to call an hour before and they would set it up. I called an hour before and no one picked up - for 30 minutes. So I left breakfast early and ran back to the hotel to retrieve my car from Valet.
I did voice my frustration with the front desk (who seemed baffled by the fact that no one answered the phones) and they were more than generous with making it right, and they said I would get a phone call from the hotel manager (which I am still waiting for a week later) and that they would like me to come back and have a better stay - unfortunately at this point, I would have to decline. Frustrating from the moment I checked in to the moment I checked out. For the price of a nightly stay - I would look elsewhere.

power outage on frist day and no wifi. they should have offered to comp us a bit for our stay due to this issue. also the staff in lobby hardly ever opeend the door for us coming in or out of hotel and did not even help us with our luggage as we were leaving hotel or even open the door for us as we exited hotel with heavy luggage. this was not expected for a 5 star hotel

Our room was on the third floor and near the elevators. It was so loud! Both from the elevators but also the hotel restaurant/bar is on the 4th floor. There was music blasting all night long. Literally until 8 AM. We didn’t sleep at all. Our room was across from a giant H&M TV screen outside which put so much light into our room, even with the blinds shut. We called and switched to a room on the 12th floor. This was great, quiet and clean. The hotel’s location is great and close to the subway. Overall, staff was great but if they give you a room on the 3rd floor switch immediately.

Excellent as always. This is our third time at this property. It is at a convenient place and offers good service. I just hope they stop charging so much for parking. Book your parking elsewhere if you do not want to be charged an arm and a leg here.

We were at the knickerbocker for an entire week.
For a “ 5 star hotel” it was most disappointing .
It started on the day before check in.
I called to let them know we were flying in overnight and arriving early. The person that answered the phone gave me a generic answer “ they cannot guarantee an early check in, only if the room is available …..” normal stuff. Ok I was also trying to arrange a pick up transport.
We we arrived at jfk , no pick up, ok, I must have emailed the details too late . My fault
We arriving at the hotel, no one to help with the bags. Checking in we were told by Tony that the room is ready , but we have to pay for early check in. Smh
We booked for 2 nights , as weren’t sure if our plans . As I booked the rest of the week the exact same room (plus 2 additional room for my family) I called and asked to just stay in the room we’re presently in so we won’t have to pack up and move (the reason behind me booking this exact room) , I was informed we have to move , because they are expecting a large group and they can’t accommodate us on this floor☹️
So guess what, we have to change rooms.
I asked for the additional rooms to be on the same floor .
Possibly close to each othe, I was told that they are upgrading one of the rooms to accommodate my request. I can’t see a difference in the room yet, but I said thank you.
Mind you trying to speak to regular front desk employees is better , because all you get from supervisors is hostile attitudes an not

I’ll start by saying. I stay in hotels over 100 nights per year all all over the world. For me the Knickerbocker is the best hotel in the world. But certain critical non essentials they have changed since 2020 have led to a drop in standards. Bottles of the lovely shower gel are now no longer take home and stuck to shower wall. No kettles, glasses and not even a cup in the rooms. Empty mini bar fridges, the snack drawer that used to be top level also empty. There used to be gatorade in gym fridge, gone too. All these things that made the Knick stand out have gone. Prices have risen but standards and levels have dropped. These things are easily turned around to make it what it was, location is fantastic, roof top bar is best views in the world. So come on Knick, get back to the 2020 levels of in house standards.

Great hotel. Large rooms and very comfortable. Bar and rooftop bar are great.
Great location for transport and to get where you need in the city.
For tourists, near Time Square, but away from the noice

We did not enjoy our stay. For the price we paid, we could have gotten a nicer room elswhere in the city (i looked up comparable rooms after checking in and being underwhelmed) The Martini Suite needs some TLC and the photos on the website are much more lavish than yhe room acrually was, with dirty crystalware, no espresso machine in room as listed. The website also lists the ceilings as 12 feet. I am six foot one inches and there is no way as my head is 2 feet from the ceiling which i measured with my keychain measuring tape. The leather headboard looks gross and is peeling off the wall. On top of this, two hotel staff let themselves into the room with the do not disturb light on. The first time was to give us 3 small chocolates, the second time my wife and i were having intercourse when a man (hotel staff) walked into our room. Wildly innapropriate. I brought to the attention of the front desk and they gave us a dining credit and removed the residence fees, but first impressions are everything in the hospitality industry and we will not be back. My wife is emotionally scarred by the staff that saw us having intercourse.

No hot water. No one answered customer service. No one cared.

The building itself is alluring; inside it is a nice clean hotel with a few amenities. I loved the bathtub (an "extra") but it was gritty from the wrong kind of bathtub cleaner. Great shower. Worse than no view, we were in a room that darkened from 11am onward because of the angle of the sun. Imho, such rooms should be discounted. No taxis await; doorman service is intermittent. There is one slightly sad food shop. I think construction was going on, who knows to what end. I don't think the Knickerbocker was worth the extra $100 compared to other prudent hotel pricing in the city. There's just nothing specially interesting on the inside. But we were comfy, and thanks to the always-pleasant staff!

Nice, helpful staff. Room was clean and not as noisy as you’d think being right in Times Square.

While my expectations were high based on the five-star rating, the hotel experience unfortunately felt more akin to a three-star level. I encountered several shortcomings in service and amenities that did not meet my anticipated standards. Fortunately, I received a full refund, which was a positive aspect. I recommend travelers to consider other options instead of this hotel.

Pretty good Hotel although a bit over-priced. Certainly a great location in being close to all of the action. Would I stay again? Only at a good discount as there are other similar options for a more competitive price.

What I found about the property was that it was so close to Time Square but it did not give the feel of rushed and anxiety. From the moment we arrive 5 feet to the property the valet and his team was there to take our bags and direct us to the reception area. Everyone was courteous and pleasant! We arrived Thanksgiving Day after the parade!!! They gave us an upgrade to our room and checked on us constantly. I am looking forward to my next visit in the near future.
