The Knickerbocker Hotel was having an issue with their hotel key cards that lasted several days. I was only made aware of it AFTER I had checked in and paid for everything. Had they said something before - I would have reevaluated my wanting to stay. Not only was not having a key card a big inconvenience (security had to escort people to back to their rooms), the lack of care and communication was way below par. On the morning of my departure, I tried to set up having my car parked in front by a valet attendant at a certain time. I asked the front desk as I was going to get breakfast with my family and they said to call an hour before and they would set it up. I called an hour before and no one picked up - for 30 minutes. So I left breakfast early and ran back to the hotel to retrieve my car from Valet. I did voice my frustration with the front desk (who seemed baffled by the fact that no one answered the phones) and they were more than generous with making it right, and they said I would get a phone call from the hotel manager (which I am still waiting for a week later) and that they would like me to come back and have a better stay - unfortunately at this point, I would have to decline. Frustrating from the moment I checked in to the moment I checked out. For the price of a nightly stay - I would look elsewhere.

power outage on frist day and no wifi. they should have offered to comp us a bit for our stay due to this issue. also the staff in lobby hardly ever opeend the door for us coming in or out of hotel and did not even help us with our luggage as we were leaving hotel or even open the door for us as we exited hotel with heavy luggage. this was not expected for a 5 star hotel

Our room was on the third floor and near the elevators. It was so loud! Both from the elevators but also the hotel restaurant/bar is on the 4th floor. There was music blasting all night long. Literally until 8 AM. We didn’t sleep at all. Our room was across from a giant H&M TV screen outside which put so much light into our room, even with the blinds shut. We called and switched to a room on the 12th floor. This was great, quiet and clean. The hotel’s location is great and close to the subway. Overall, staff was great but if they give you a room on the 3rd floor switch immediately.
