Lee (the host/manager) was prompt and helpful in getting back to me when I booked the place. As far as The Brighton Guesthouse itself: it is a bit dated and could use some updating. I thought it could have been a little cleaner. The floors in my room needed a sweeping/mopping, but overall it was okay for cleanliness. The walls are paper thin, so I could hear snoring from the room next to me. And the bed I had was super squeaky/rickety, and could have been more comfortable. The room is secure with a extra lock on the inside, so that’s nice. I would say overall it’s an okay place, but not worth what they are charging, given the condition of the place and the rundown neighborhood that it is in.

This is a very low level, no frills, small space, room. The check in procedure is complicated, the lighting at the entrance is poor. The neighborhood is low level and noisy. With quite a bit of transient and homeless people walking the streets. It’s tucked back away from businesses and any access to any commercial activities. It’s not quiet. People could be heard, checking in to their rooms and in their rooms through the very thin walls. The shower door is so narrow that it’s dangerous to try to walk through . There’s a poor smell to the bathroom as though someone had urinated on the floor and it never really got cleaned up appropriately. There’s no air conditioning of any type. The only ventilation that you can have is by opening a window which has no screen to it . While there are rules posted, no alcohol, no drugs no smoking no noise, there is no one here to enforce those rules and I could smell someone smoking somewhere at home of the property. However, the bed was firm and comfortable and the pillows were nice. I’m not happy with the accommodations at the price. I would not stay here again . There are no posted evacuation signs. The accommodation management did not give me instructions that were clear. As this is a self check in. I didn’t feel unsafe. But certainly if I were someone that could not defend myself from some of the characters roaming around on the streets, I would not feel safe . Don’t stay here.

Host was very welcoming and responsive. Great area in the middle of Seattle, close to everything via light rail.

There was ants in my room including in my bed and in the bathroom and shower. Otherwise it was fine.

I don't know whether there have been security issues here previously, but I found the precautionary measures for check in to be silly, but getting into the room was easy enough. However, for the price paid, room/bathroom could've been cleaner. I think bedding was clean, but super wrinkled. Also, the couple in the room across the small hall from mine could've been in my room, they were so loud til 1am. Guests regulate themselves, but there is no buffer for sound, so good luck.

I particularly like that this is a noise-free environment

I recently ran into some bad luck and it had unfortunately left me and my family homeless and we had what we could fit in my car that was stolen over a week ago so now we have nothing. It's crazy to think we had friends over for dinner at the end of January. With that being said every place we stayed at looked at us with descus, looking at our daughter like they couldn't believe we could dress her like that. They were rude never listen to us refuse most of our questions and request.BUT this place welcomed up they smiled didn't make us being back an empty bottle of shampoo just to get a new one. They have us water and coffee! It made me cry with know things will get better and that is priceless. Thank you Skyway we can't tell you enough how much we appreciate your hospitality.

Shower and bathroom was cramped. Would like to have a re-cycle bin. Better would be to have door draft covers to keep hallway light out of the room. Really would have liked to use the laundry room. Also would be nice to have cleaning wipes in the kitchen as it's shared. Overall would recommend.

Arrived at the airport to find that the phone number given was not in service and no actual address. I was stranded. Expedia was no help at all and left me speaking with a computer that kept saying, "I understand ".

No staff, no help, no directions. Couldn't/didn't even check in.

This is more of a dorm-style, shared guest apartment. That in and of itself was not a problem. The cost was $100 without any amenities and lock-down rules. Didn't mind the rules, shared experience, & lack of amenities. Very much didn't appreciate the bill for such a sparse stay.

Out of the way, but easy to find with phone gps. Looked ok in the dark, but rundown in the day and rundown neighborhood. Bed was made, but bedding not changed from previous guest, floor dirty, some kind of alien growth on bathroom walls and ceiling. Kitchen and common area dirty and run down. Yard overgrown and run down and fencing down.

Very small, lots of rules, have to take out your own garbage, and linens! Not sure what I paid for!

i received lengthy rules and regulations and pics and instructions about walking up alley and my room and house looked nothing like pics and there was no keyless entry points. after 54 minutes of looking in the dark alley i gave up and drove off. houses there. i spent a

This was a standard bed and bathroom stay. The room was clean. The window had no screen so it seemed unsafe to open the window, while at the same time the temperature in the room was incredibly hot and it was difficult to find an adjuster for that. There was a delay to get the confirmation for your stay that had the address attached to it so you'll want to get something to eat before you plan to check in so you're not frustratingly waiting.

You are just getting one room. I tried to cancel my booking because I thought we’d have more room based on the photos.
Not only that, but we didn’t get the information for checking in until three hours after we were allowed to check in. I didn’t even go, because it wasn’t worth it. But if you’re looking for one room to rent with shared common areas, this looks decent.

Really clean, great little neighborhood with easy access to light rail. We would definitely stay here again.

There was still trash in the room left by the previous occupant.

Decently comfortable. Basic basic available items to cook with. No coffee but coffee maker. Decent fridge but someone "claimed" the entire shelf plus a rotten pizza left. Lots of people around on cleaning day (they live under house), not ideal if your wanting to be socially distancing from people. Shower is small & not ideal for anyone under 5'7, your hair will get wet plus vents don't do a good job. Hair dryer plug had a short, kept making room lights go out. Ideal if you want a cheap booking, kinda like a hostel feel but private room/ bathroom

I enjoyed my stay at hotel. The lay out and explanation on how everything works was excellent. The only issue was that it would get warm infrequently. One minute it would be hot next minute it would be warm. All they would need to do is add a fan to change that. Overall I would stay there again.

To many signs in room, noise outside room, camera in the living room, could hear room next door made the place feel invasive and restrictive and not private. Shower door leaked. Could not go out on patio, felt I was not allowed to go out back. Couldn’t cook a meal unless it was in the microwave. Not many pots, pans, or cooking utensils to actually cook a meal there.

I love this place we are thankful for the staff

It’s bare bones & noisy, felt more like a halve way house than a guest house. But then again you get what you paid for. I didn’t stay the full 3 days, one night was enough

This isnt a hotel. It is a split level house off MLK way, so you know its in a bad neighborhood, and you rent out a bedroom.

Low-cost, clean and functional rooms. Feels like a sterile corporate apartment.

Positive: Close to Light Rail Station
Positive: Park close by
Positive: Clean
Positive: Numerous small non-chain restaurants close by
Negative: Noisy if other guests are in their rooms
Negative: Others parked in my assigned parking spot
Overall: Good value except for the noise.

I liked that the property was so close to the link train. It mafe it super easy to get to and from the airport and downtown.

Was hesitant to book this place purely for safety reasons but we had no problems and felt safe our entire stay! Good cheap option for a one night stay in Seattle. Would definitely stay here again

Walking distance to the rail is good and the owner of the guesthouse is friendly.

Located in a tatty urban neighborhood, the interior of the house was immaculate and the rooms were very nice. I hope the green light in the bathroom ceiling fan vent was some kind of power indicator.... Mediocre review of staff is because there are not any!! You are on your own.

Our stay at the Brighton was very enjoyable. Although our bathroom was in the adjacent hallway it was not a big inconvenience. The common area was well kept and the backyard porch was a very pleasant place to enjoy the evening. The managers are working on solutions for dampening the sounds of late night arrivals. Other than that, our stay was very quiet. An excellent feature of this guesthouse is the close proximity to the light rail system. A 5 minute walk puts you on the rail and you're in downtown Seattle in 15-20 minutes. A Safeway store is a block from the Othello rail station. There are a number of very good Ethiopian and Vietnamese restaurants within walking distance. I recommend this guesthouse to other travelers.
