Disappointing

Villa Martin is located in a remote area approached by lanes with suggested 30 kph speed limits and frequently only wide enough for a car and a cyclist. So it was quiet with just the sounds of neighbours' geese and chickens.

Poorly maintained and several anticipated essentials missing. An ant problem has obviously been ignored and expected to be controlled by the holidaymaker. The ants were not just in food areas but mining through paving and walls. We found that the bathroom sink was slow draining and probably blocked by hair which could not be fixed by the holidaymaker. We found that there were four knives designed for cooking use but none could even cut bread, so couldn't be used to cut meat. (We purchased a steel to sharpen one knife to a usable degree, and didn't leave it). No measuring jugs or spaghetti serving spoon. No cleaning products of any sort (dish cloths or scourers or washing up liquid) were provided. The double bed was uncomfortable (for two) and the shower cubicle was small requiring careful positioning in order to not knock against the tap or the plastic walls. Access to the solarium, shown in the photos, was prohibited and barred. The only grassy areas were from the fake that was poorly stuck down around the pool. Where it met the rear of the villa it provided accommodation for all manners of insects. Shutters on windows were inconsistent with the security they provided. The plastic clothes drier rack was partly broken and inadequate for large amounts of washing. The battery vacuum cleaner only provided short periods of use. Light bulbs used throughout the villa were inconsistent in warmth, style or power rating. The woven lampshade in the centre of the sitting room was a ragged rafia material that hindered the light from it and required you to duck under it. The only smoke alarm was placed on top of the sideboard in the sitting room and went off once for no reason. The canopy at the front was leaking from the beam close to the front wall of the property when it rained. Paint was flaking from some of the walls. The whole villa seemed to be a work in progress in it's conversion from a barn. Not recommended.

Matig

Groot zwembad
