Spend your days roaming the ancient streets and exploring the sights (you're never far from a Fado restaurant here) and come home to cook for the whole gang in the bright, open-plan living room, before padding out to the patio to eat together as the sun sets. Inside, it's a stylish mix of modern minimalism and country comfort. All-white walls and wood floors keep everything cool, while period touches like Juliet balconies and shuttered windows add elegance. There's room for a large group, with one bedroom boasting a huge walk-in dressing room, and we think it's a delightful neighbourhood. With loads going on nearby, and plenty of good restaurants within a short walk, you may not want to go far, but there are excellent transport links if you do. Home truths: *The front of the home faces the street and as it's a bustling area you may hear some noise from nearby restaurants and bars *Your hosts can be flexible about check-in and check-out time, depending on the guests before or after you *Smoking is only permitted on the patio and any cigarette waste must be removed from the premises *It's a traditional building without a lift and your home is on the second floor *A small bed for a child can be added to the living room or to the large, walk-in dressing room, and another two guests can sleep on the sofa bed in the lounge – this room doesn't have blackout blinds and can be quite bright *There's laptop-friendly workspace *A cot is available on request for little guests
