Mountain Creek Resort at Appalachian Hotel - Pool & Hot Tub

The Mountain views were gorgeous. Loved the atmosphere.

There was only a small snack shop or premises. No restaurant, so we had to go out for meals.

Place was very nice and well kept! Hosts were receptive, had a great time!

Everything seems to close at 11, the only vending machine for drinks didn’t work. Parking garage is an absolute dystopian nightmare to park in.

I stayed at this location for 5 days for a dance competition and here is my experience. I’ll start by saying that I booked through Booking.com and did not realize it was through a private host( I would prefer to not rent privately). With that being said, I had a really great experience and would absolutely rent again from these owners. Pros: •The room was really clean for the most part( there was a significant amount of mold on the shower curtain liner which is why I say for the most part but overall very clean) • The host was extremely responsive to my messages; sense of urgency is very important to me! •The room was stocked well enough for my whole stay( me and 2 kids for 5 days) with paper towels and toilet paper, and there was even foil, salt and pepper, and olive oil, all which came in handy! •The instructions the host gave were phenomenal and so easy to follow- it really made everything so easy!

Cons: • As stated I booked with Booking.com so I am not placing blame on the host for this because I don’t know if they are even to blame, but the description of the room was a little misleading-I didn’t realize there were pictures of several different rooms all together so what was pictured isn’t necessarily what you get. This wouldn’t be a big deal except I had planned for a full size refrigerator/ freezer because I had to feed my kids all week so I specifically wanted somewhere I could bring frozen foods which brings me to my next point • Freezer was broken throughout my stay- we did have a mini fridge with a tiny freezer so I did buy frozen food (thankfully it was just one box of pancakes because it was too small for anything else) and the freezer just defrosted the whole box and was pushing out hot air so I did have to throw those away but again no big deal. I will say I did not message the host about this because again it was one box of pancakes so I put no blame on them as I didn’t make them aware of the situation. •The parking garage is absolutely terrifying- It’s super dark and creepy; It was just me and my two girls so I didn’t feel super comfortable walking through there at all; thankfully there was lots of parking close to the elevator. Again this is more of a resort problem not a host problem at all.

Overall the apartments are roomy and relatively modern. The location is near several outdoor activities, from hiking to water park, etc.

Unfortunately, as touched on in previous reviews, cleanliness is a real issue at this location (and in both of the apartments we rented). While the owner claimed that units had been serviced, we found multiple issues that were never fully esolved--these included stained sheets, dirty mattress covers with accumulated crumbs (particularly in the sofa beds) and worst of all, heavily stained towels that should have never seen the light of day. Flowers had not been cleaned appropriately as our socks quickly got dirty by just walking around the apartments. This made my family very uncomfortable throughout the stay to sleep, shower, etc. Perhaps a bigger issue with this resort, as we happened to find, by accident, small dead animals accumulating in the pool drain as well, but sincerely hoping that's a rare event.
