Located in Manasota Key, this lovely house for $215 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. This home is on private property right on the Gulf of Mexico. The Sunset Views are spectacular and you can hear the waves crashing up against the shoreline or rocks, depending on the tide. There are 2 buildings and 3 units on this property (see listings 923682 and 920813). This is the bottom unit of the carriage house, which also has a 2/1 apt. upstairs. It has one bedroom, a living area with a queen sleeper! It has a full kitchen and bath with stand up shower. Beautiful sunset views.

We had a great time at our cottage by the sea. We had everything we needed. It is right on the beach. The views are amazing!! Close to restaurants, shopping, and anything else you want to do. We will definitely be back. We got to meet the owner while there and she is very nice.

The property is like a slice of heaven. The location is close to everything you need. The best part is you walk out of your door straight onto what is mostly a private beach. Words don't do it justice. It is absolutely beautiful! We will definitely be back.

Comfortable, great location and wonderful hosts. All three units on the property were occupied when we were there and everyone was very nice and respected the space. Would love to go back and get the upstairs unit in the carriage house!

Located right on the water, great place for my wife and I. Francine was very helpful with check in and knowledgeable about the area. Groceries and restaurants were close. Took a boat tour and got to see dolphins, Manatees and found some nice shells. Thumbs up to Francine and Manasota!

Direct Gulf front with large yard, extremely clean, all necessary amenities for the apartment and beach including laundry facilities. Francine keeps in contact and if you’re lucky, you’ll get to meet her!

This lovely beach cottage is delightful. You can see the gulf through the glass sliding door while sitting in the living area. There is a very spacious outside area for grilling or just hanging. out. You have private land right to the gulf sand. Francine was super attentive on check in and follow up. Five out of five stars for sure.

My wife and I absolutely loved our stay. This is such a cute little place and it has everything we needed. We had friends and family in the main house so it was great to be able to spend time with them but have our own separate space when we wanted it. Without a doubt we will be booking again!

Francine was friendly, responsive and was generous to allow an early check in, which we appreciated. The beach is outstanding, and sunsets were breathtaking. We saw manatees and turtle nests. It’s a “nearly” beachfront view; however, it is partially obstructed by another unit on the property and the trunks of generously supplied beach toys/floats. The kitchen has dish soap, paper towels, cooking utensils, dishes, etc. The wall art throughout has a cute beachy theme. The air conditioning and low hanging fans (beware) kept the unit cool. Although we didn’t drink it, the complimentary bottle of wine was a thoughtful gesture.
Cleanliness was not “immaculate” like other reviewers stated; however, the linens were clean. The microwave had food residue in it. The space between the counter and the stove had a plethora of crumbs trapped there. Ghost ants were on the kitchen counter. The shower grout needs bleaching or resealing, and the shower floor was uneven and sharp in spots. A good layer of dust coated the plastic plant decorations. I did appreciate the cleaning supplies to keep the unit tidy during our visit, however.
Sleep quality is poor. The mattress BADLY needs replacing. The AC unit in the bedroom has an intermittent chirping sound which wakes you. The comforter was barely wide enough to cover the bed, let alone the two of us.
The furniture including the outside rusty metal and musty cushioned loungers and filthy rusted grill, need replacing. A moldy welcome mat, badly frayed bathroom curtains, rusting metal shelving units, chipped lamp, peeling ceiling and wall paint in the bathroom, split and warped wood on the walls by the sliders, living room furniture that needs updating, water stained kitchen ceiling tiles, rusting drop ceiling supports, mismatched floor tiles, missing baseboard trim, and other items just show a lack attention to details that would warrant the rental rate we paid. The exterior door locks were badly corroded making one door impossible to use.
This is not a “quaint, old Florida property” as some reviewers stated. It’s a property that needs improvements to justify the fee that it charges, especially for off season rates. As lovely as Francine is as a host, and as magnificent as the beach is, it unfortunately, doesn’t compensate for the state of the furnishings or the degree of disrepair of the unit. How disappointing for a VRBO property that received so many outstanding reviews.

We enjoyed our stay very much. It was so nice to be steps away from a beautiful beach. We enjoyed the beach, as well as kayaking and biking. The apartment was great. It was bigger than I expected, very clean, and nice furnished. My only suggestion would be to upgrade the mattress on the bed. We would rent again.

This property has the charm of yesteryear tucked very neatly into the mature pine trees for shade on the beach if you prefer or move around for the sun. The turtles nests were all taped off and ready to burst with life. The outside shower was a nice touch for cooling down and rinsing the sand off. Ours had an entry door directly into the bathroom adding the convenience of not tracking sand all through the apartment.

This was our 1st Vrbo experience. We would like to say that we had a peaceful ocean therapy session. Splendid sunset and gorgeous sunrise. I woke up really early and witnessed the turtle patrols inspecting the nests. Francine was very welcoming. I’m positive that we will return to Cottages by the Sea.

We stayed at this amazing property for a little over a week. The view is absolutely breathtaking and everything was perfect, very well appointed. Francine and Fred are wonderful hosts and do everything to make sure that their guests have everything they need. It was hard to leave and we wished we could have extended our vacation for a few more days, but it was time to get back home. We will definitely be returning, if you’re looking for someplace that feels like home, but is in paradise, this is the place to stay.

Turtles, pristine beach, old Florida feel. Comfortable kitchen and living space. Great outdoor shower. And…walk right out your bathroom or living room to the warm white sand. Best of all was the communication with the owner and manager. Very very sweet and not just willing, but wanting to go above and beyond to ensure a great stay. Will be renting again.

Imagine an older Florida beach bungalow set right on the ocean front. You can hear the waves right in the apartment. Beautiful views, laid back setting, tons of sea shells to sort though on the beach and very quiet. One mile from “the town” with about 5 bars/restaurants which have good food, very local feel, and only a golf cart ride away with their free cart service on the island (tips-only). Extremely dog friendly. Our dogs are older and one being a diabetic blind dog this trip was exactly what he needed! So relaxing! Will be back and recommend

You are right on the beach. The yard is so nice with the beach in front, plenty of beach chairs and tables. There is even some shade in the yard. The unit was very comfortable. Everything worked out great. I think that Francine has done a great job. We hope to come back.
