We - 2 female travelers- booked 2 cabanas next to each other and stayed for 3 nights. The style is simple and beautiful. 30 seconds walk to the beach with a place where you can safely swim - that’s great.
The Sri Lankan family (mostly brothers) who’s managing the place, is super sweet.
We had 3 amazing breakfasts and fish BBQ dinner twice - highly recommended, even though the price level is a bit higher.
We loved the hammocks and day beds - it’s such a nice place to chill out in he light breeze between the palm trees.
This is nothing, the family could have an influence on, but you should be aware that the area is ruled by Muslims. We’ve been harassed on a regular basis as soon as we’ve left the place.

The cabanas are directly in front of the beach with beach loungers in the outside area from which you could relax and enjoy the lovely view of the ocean.
The rooms are simple but clean and they have a small terrace, where we enjoyed sitting in the evening. In front of them there was also a small basin for cleaning your sandy feet from the beach, which was great.
The food was great! When we saw the prices we thought it was a bit expensive, but the amount is enormous! We really recommend the fruit bowl with curd for breakfast as well as the Sri Lankan breakfast, which would have been enough for two people!
The hosts were really welcoming and organised a really great surfing lesson and a safari in the Kumala national park (at the north east of the famous Yala national park), where we saw Leopards, Elephants, Crocodiles, Buffalos, Peacocks and hundreds of birds. And all this without hundreds of jeeps hunting animals!

Arne’s was exactly what it claims to be. A fantastic friendly, family run beachside retreat. Good sized villas and a cabana on the beach if preferred. The grounds are kept neat and tidy and have wonderful shady day beds and hammocks. Great value and close to everything. Rooms have fans so if you need aircon it’s probably not for you but the fans were perfect for us. It’s like staying in a family community rather than a soul-less hotel and every effort was made to make sure we had and knew everything. Great brekkie available on site. It’s also a great story and not hard to see why Arne formed the friendship he did. There is also a strong sense of giving back and the family work with charities to support their community. We were honoured to join a beach clean up program one morning that they are heavily involved in.

Amazing place to stay in Arugam Bay. The rooms are perfect, very comfortable and original. The family running this hotel are lovely, helpful and really kind. The breakfast is delicious. Definetely, we would recommend this hotel 100% :)

The actual property itself was very unique, it had lots of areas and outdoor beds to chill on which were very comfy. The location was great, very central to the town and you could walk straight in to the beach down the road at the side of the property. You could see the beach from the place and hear the waves at night! The beach here we actually found better than baby point further along where everyone goes, as this was quieter and had more space in the ocean. The room was also very nice.
it gets quite hot here and there was no air con (but the ceiling fan did help).

We spent a week in Arne's Cabana and didn't want to leave. The cabana is simple but has everything, the little outdoor area with hammock and couch is the best after a big day. As surfers, it was great to wake up in the morning and see the surf break 🌊
We loved our stay, the staff are relaxed and helpful. They also organise a great Safari, highly recommended.
It wasn't a place where we could meet other travellers. For us, this was fine because we had a busy surfing itinerary and did our own thing.

The place looks really nice and is very relaxing. Arugam bay has one main road and this place is in a cross road in the middle of it, so it’s in a very good position. The room is big and the bed is comfortable, the fan works really well and it’s enough. The majority of the staff is helpful and kind and speaks English.
It’s not really beach front. Not much choice on the restaurant menu and a bit expensive comparing to the average prices of other restaurants in the area.

We stayed at Arne’s for 5 nights. Great location really close to the main action of Arugam Bay. Really close to the beach. The family who run it are lovely and super helpful. We did the safari trip they organised which was amazing and saw some great animals! They also do surfing. Breakfast is also pretty good. If you are looking for somewhere to stay on a budget I would definitely recommend.
It is fairly basic (hence the price). The shower is one temperature and occasionally runs out (they sort straight away). Also there is no air con, just a ceiling fan which is still quite hot.

Arne‘s place is a beautiful, family owned place with a touching story. Haleem, one of the brothers, is putting all his heart and energy in this business. I stayed in the Cabana and it was just really, really cool! Hammock with beach view, outdoor bathroom and nice social area to meet people. Definitely would recommend!
As staff is around anyways all day, they could use the time and clean up a few bits and peace’s (e.g. sand on the balcony, leaves in the bathroom). They seem bored although there would be a lot to do ;)

All the staff were super friendly and always ready to help. The breakfast was healthy and tasty. The grounds were delightful. Only 30 metres to the beach and a great view of Main Point from the breakfast kiosk

The huts were super cute. The place had only 5 or 6 them which made the atmosphere relaxed and quiet. Also there is not any busy restaurant/bar nearby which is good for people looking relaxing stay, still everything is nearby. The place has touching history which is written on the restaurant menu. The food was extremely good.
On my first night I discovered that the sheets in my bed had stains in them and I suspected also bed bucks. Overall the hut didnt feel comfy because it was next to the reception and in toilet the sounds could be herd clearly, so they gave me another hut to stay which I was more happy with. Otherwise they were super helpful and I enjoyed my stay and will fully recommend to stay here if you are looking chilled place just front of the beach.

Really enjoyed my stay there. The staff is really nice, they work hard to make your stay a really good one. the location is perfect in front of the ocean, it’s clean and the food is really good - I would definitely go back there if I ever have the opportunity
I would not recommand the surf class they offer with Mahir - he focus more on chatting to every girls and showing off in the water than giving appropriate advices.

I stayed at Arnes Place for 10 Days and enjoyed every day. The guys are very helpful and you can allways have an easy chat with them. The Location is perfect, even when it is not directly at the water. I can 100% recommend staying at this Place

Arnes Place is situated right in front of the beach, so that the beakfast place has a very nice view on the beautiful sea. The little bungalows are clean and have everything that you need. The staff is absolutely lovely, very helpful and kind and the slogan on their door that says "come as a stranger leave as a friend" is very true. We had the best time here, had wonderful surfing lessons with Mahir and Nilam, Mubarak organized a little camping adventure at the beach and in the rest of the time we just enjoyed resting at the chilling places of the hotel. We can only recommend coming to Arnes Place to have a wonderful stay at Arugam bay!

this little cabana in front of the beach has fulfilled me in my heart! I slept with open door while watching the waves from the bed and felt so safe and amazing there. Highly recommend this beautiful stay. It is the perfect location and the owners are so lovely and supportive!

Really friendly staff who helped us a lot with organising day trips. Right on the beach, cool eating and chilling areas. Excellent breakfast - the banana and fruit pancake is very tasty! Planned to stay only 2 nights but ended up staying 5 and would definitely stay here again.
