Short stay on our way home. Wanted to see the history of Carson City. Chose this hotel based on reviews. Thankfully, it was the quietest place out of all that we’d stayed in over the last week. We were TIRED. :-) So the quiet was much appreciated. Definitely an older place. Bathrooms could use some updating. But really was a good stay. Thank you.

My stay was great,the staff was friendly and welcoming the room was clean and quiet..I was on the top floor and no one else was around..I had a great view of the city..it was very relaxing.

We always stay here for it’s down home feeling, has everything you need, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and easy access to casino downstairs. It’s a little dated but they’re constantly working on it. Bed is super comfortable. Highly recommend the Federal Hotel and Max Casino.

Decent for the price, room was dated and the tv had a crack in it. Room was right next to laundry which was occasionally loud and could hear the workers in the hallway.

The place is run down. The carpets in the room were very old and I didn't want to walk on them barefoot. Otherwise, it's an old hotel. The staff were nice. The casino was mostly quiet and empty.

The staff was very nice and I understand the property is up for renovation. But renovation won’t fix the thinnest walls I’ve ever encountered. Thinner than a Motel 6. Could hear our neighbor’s every word as though they were in the same room as us and they weren’t super loud. Unfortunately, this made for a terrible nights rest since they kept the TV on all night. Not sure how a renovation will fix that.

The rooms are older and need some work. They were semi clean. The floors needed to be vacuumed and my t.v. did not work even after the assistance of one of the employees. The front desk employees were very nice and accommodating.

Checked in on 9/2/2023 checked out on 9/6/2023 in Room #204. Terrible noise from the north wall all day all night. It's most likely from the dining place down below.

The lobby smelled horribly of smoke and fragrance trying to cover the smoke. Unfortunately the walk from the door to the elevators wasn’t close enough to hold your breath. The smell in the room was only slightly better. Even the shower water smelled like smoke. The first night I couldn’t stand it. Very seriously considered taking the loss and staying somewhere else for the second night. The second night the smell in the room was a little better but still disgusting. I had to wash everything in my suitcase when I got home because of the smell. Then there is the toilet. The toilet seat was worn down so much it was brown, there was a pube on the seat, the toilet lid had drip marks and nastiness on it. And the least of the issues was the curtain had pin holes in it letting light through. The bed was very hard as well. No continental breakfast, but two free drink tickets if you can stand to be down in the lobby/casino long enough.

The front staff were very nice, but didn't realize it was a smoking facility. My elderly father has severe asthma and on oxygen, so he couldn't go back down to casino or restaurant because of that but he did fine once in the room. The rooms were very clean and we slept well.

The front desk staff was awesome but there is no maid service available the door to our room kept sticking so had to force my way into my room with my shoulder or kick it but when they did clean they used bleach and made me feel like it was really clean

Property located in a very good location. We don’t like 2 things. Carpet in a room was very, very dirty and in hallways looking so old and all the smoking from the casino coming in a room. During the sleep we choked many times .

I have stayed at this property several times. They have live music on Friday and Saturday and it's always been good. Black Bear Diner is located inside the hotel. This is an older hotel and could use a little sprucing up but I have no complaints. I did notice they have some sort of air freshener being pumped into the facility and it smelt like I had just done a load of laundry. It was lovely and not overpowering - smelled fresh.

I was there for my birthday weekend visiting the grandkids in Carson City. Our experience at the Federal Hotel was Awesome. The people were friendly and the hotel was clean.
