Nice location; convenient. Away from the main drag but close enough to almost anywhere I wanted to go to. Across the street from gorgeous gardens. My room was in the basement, though it had much light and was spacious. Great shower. The place also has almost and Old World members club vibe to it. There is a comfortable sitting room for guests.

So comfortable and cozy , love the bathroom

Stayed overnight for business, nice hotel and in good location. Room was on the lower floor, had everything I needed but I just felt a little underwhelmed. This hotel gets a really good rating but I felt it was slightly underneath. I would stay here again however, might try a room higher up instead.

Lovely bottom floor room, only qualm was the fact that we sleep with the windows open and our window was located right beside a set of table and chairs that are popular for smokers so I kept waking up to the smell of cigarette smoke.

Lovely period hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will be back.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, we arrived and left our bags with reception as were very early while we sey out to explore (after a drink in the bar). Barman was great, offering information on the area and generally chatty. Breakfast was great with a good selection and was served quickly allowing us to start our day. There was a general ease of the staff who were all great and almost everyone we encountered in this interesting and unique place were friendly and welcoming.

4 poster room was very comfortable and staff were very helpful

Great historic building with lots of atmosphere, nice rooms with comfy beds, friendly and helpful staff, good value. Really nice common spaces and a very nice breakfast. Nice location across from a park and view from the room was very nice. But paper-thin walls and loud drunken altercations among other guests definitely made it hard to sleep at night.

A very pleasant stay in this centrally located hotel, within easy walking distance of the main tourist sites, shopping area and restaurants. The room was clean, comfortable and a reasonable size, representing very good value for the price. The only issue we had was being located directly below a staff service area which meant that we were woken very early, when the cleaning shift began! Generally, however, would happily recommend

Stayed at this Scottish style hotel. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The room is clean and large. The bed is very comfortable.

Swapped to the RSC at late notice and wasn’t disappointed; welcoming, clean, comfortable and a good breakfast.

Hotel was clean, comfortable, well appointed and had a well cared for feel. Room was very small and staff were efficient but not welcoming.

Loved our stay at the Royal Scot. Comfortable rooms with all the facilities you need for a weekend stay. Lots of history in the main building and a very welcoming staff.

This is a unique, cozy option should you find yourself in Edinburgh. It’s walkable to shops and food and in a safe clean area.
*you have the option to add breakfast and I would recommend. There isn’t a lot of early food options.

This is an exceptional hotel. While not on the main drag, its a beautiful hotel, with a nice bar and restaurant and brilliant staff. The bad points, a standard lamp in the room didnt work (we coped, there were plenty of lights) and the apperitives at dinner turned up while we ordering dessert. Minor things. The Staff were really up to speed, handled anything we asked of them brillantly and the room was amazing. Please don't go - I want to go back and dont want it fully booked.

The staff couldn’t of done more so friendly. The bed was so comfy and room had everything in it made our stay much more.
We stayed in 34A and being in a different building didn’t cause any fuss still used the main building as normal. The lounge/bar was a quite and relaxing for a drink. breakfast selection had everything you need and more.
We stayed as part of a larger group and all our rooms where carefully thought about and our other firends chose to stay in the main building due to having a lift.

An enjoyable stay. Would definitely return

Over the years I've stayed at various rooms at the Royal Scots Club Hotel. They are all equally attractive and comfortable. There is a certain calm to the whole place which is also very attractive. The staff are also friendly and efficient.

Would definitely return if we are back Edinburgh

Nice and quiet room. Was a little noisy at times since the room faced the street on the ground floor. Friendly and helpful staff with warm atmosphere.

Liked the old private gentleman club vibe, reception staff very helpful let us keep our bags there after checking out as big wait for train home, breakfast waitress was very gruff though

Very bummed about our stay at the hotel - we had booked a queen room in advance, and nowhere on the reservation did it mention we would be put in their “Annex” building l, which is just a polite way of saying basement rooms.
We didn’t even get to stay in the proper hotel itself, but were instead in a room down the road, situated level with the street which was incredibly noisy and had intermittent wifi signal. And on our second night we had virtually no hot water.
The hotel itself did not seem crowded at all on the multiple occasions we went inside the actual building, so it was extremely disappointing to have been shuffled to the outbuilding. And again - this wouldn’t have been an issue if there was transparency while booking - we would have simply opted for another property.

Loved it. Will go back for another stay.

Was there for three days, and a good start to the day is a breakfast - which was really good here. Very friendly service.

The hotel is inside a private club, with separated entrance for the members. It is conveniently located at short walking distance from Princess Street and downtown. Our room was big and confortable, although a bit dusty. Breakfast was good and with plenty of choice

The room wasn’t in the same building as the hotel. It was in a basement, horrible, couldn’t even open the curtains. No bathtub, despite de pictures and no conditioner, despite the price. Front desk was very much rude. Don’t stay here, you can find better places with better localisation with the same price.

We always stay here when in Edinburgh. Highly recommended.

Dirty bathroom and dirty walls beside the bed (cobwebs and ‘dirt’) left us very disappointed with the hotel. Looked like it had not been cleaned in months, judging by the cobwebs that had dust on them!! Surely cleanliness is a basic standard for any hotel, particularly at nearly £200 a night?

The location was quiet and also convenient for walking to the train station, bus station, or catching the tram. There were several restaurants within walking distance as well. The staff was very helpful if needed. The included breakfast was nice. I also loved the photos and the history to explore in the common areas. Judging from my room, however, the rooms do need a bit of attention. I love the older, cozy feel in hotels with character, but the furniture in my room was simply worn out and uncomfortable to sit on. Lightbulbs were out. I paid extra to book the four poster double room, and my room was nowhere near as nice as the photo provided at the time of booking. I wish I had saved some money and simply booked a standard room. I think the rooms just need someone to come in and make them shine with character and elegance again. I appreciated that they thoughtfully left a fan in closet, as you can't really control the temperature in your room, and the windows only open slightly. In an effort to pack lighter, I was planning to use toiletries provided by the hotels along my journey. Some were missing, such as hair conditioner and body lotion. Just an FYI for your packing. This hotel really could be great with a little update (still preserving the antique character) and a few additional amenities. Again, I only have my room to go on. All in all though, an okay stay. A nice base in a quiet neighborhood, convenient to transport, with a hot breakfast provided.

Really nice hotel in the city centre, nice lounge and dining room. The interior of the hotel is like being in a museum relating to the Royal Scots with numerous pictures and articles about past serving heroes, it’s worth visiting just to read the various articles. We will stay at the hotel again

Fantastic historical military establishment. Very clean and reasonably priced. Meals excellent, Staff very friendly; especially Jordyn behind the bar who helped make the stay really enjoyable.
Would definitely recommend.
3.0
Well located perhaps 5 minutes away from Princes Street than other upmarket hotels but well worth it for the money saved and the levels of comfort and service. Very much the old military club style but nothing wrong with that when it is so cosy and comfortable.
10.0
The hotel was a military club and so its full of history wherever you go and I loved that. The place itself had everything, staff was super nice and it was walkable to some restaurants and was in a pretty nice and safe neighborhood.
6.0
The overall hotel was fine, however we did find the room to be very cold even with the radiators on full whack, this made it an uncomfortable stay. We also found the floor boards in the room very noisy. This was the same for the hallway leading to our room also.
10.0
East check-in, stay and check-out. Staff was attentive and helpful throughout.
4.0
Excellent option in the heart of the city
