Great location, unique old building with soaring ceilings. Unfortunately there was construction going on early every morning. Staff was helpful. Across the street from Harris Teeter to stock up

Hotel was nice and would have been rated higher if we had known about the remodeling work that was being done beforehand. Once completed the hotel should be very nice. Currently some of the rooms need updating.
4.0
Construction was going on in the lobby, which made for some noise during the day and also a rather tight breakfast area. Rooms were nice though.

Hotel is under construction /renovation. We were advised when we reserved that the work would be completed by the end of March. Workers are in the public space areas 7 days/ week from 8:00am- 8:00pm. It isn’t pleasant to have breakfast or wine and cheese in a noisy/ dusty area. The staff is helpful and friendly but the rooms could be better dusted.

They were so accommodating! We loved staying here.

Hotel had construction going on so it was a terrible experience. Loud banging, dust, got paint all over shoes and clothes.

I would have given the hotel a better school but they had construction going on. So a lot of the amenities were not offered.

Great location but there is no mention of refurbishment work which impacts quality of stay

A darling place to stay very close to everything! The historicalness of this hotel can not be replicated. My room was super cozy with lots of space. The staff was exceptionally nice. The whole place is under renovation. I hope they update the bathrooms. But otherwise everything was excellent.

Perfect location. We did not rent a car and just wanted a weekend in the historic district. The inn is undergoing renovations. The staff were so helpful and accommodating. The room was large and very clean. The choice of nearby eateries was amazing. We want to come back after the renovations are complete.

The staff were all very helpful and informative. Unfortunately the hotel was under renovations and we had not been aware of this when we made the booking. So several services like the fitness Center were not available.

There was major construction and the lounge was closed. We left early

Great place to stay for our first visit to Charleston. Although this property is currently undergoing renovations it had very little effect on our stay. Our room was clean, spacious, comfortable & quiet. It looked like you would imagine old Charleston to look. We hope they keep this character.
If you see Johnni, smile & say “Hi!” She is the best and will make you feel right at home.

Our stay at Andonborough was fantastic!
The lobby is under renovation so breakfast was moved to a room adjacent to the lobby and was very good.
The rooms are scheduled for renovation over the next few months and the age of the building does lend a slightly musty smell entering the room but it was not noticeable once out of the doorway.

Staff was friendly and location was very convenient for exploring historic Charleston, but these were really the only positives of this experience. We chose this property for a family Christmas trip based on a quaint inn experience and ambiance. Upon arrival, we realized the property was undergoing renovation for which we received no advance notification or communication that property amenities were not available or majorly limited. Had we known, we would have chosen a different property. As part of construction, the floors had carpet strips taped down over hardwood & were a tripping hazard. There were tarps hung throughout reception area. The complimentary continental breakfast & social hour had been moved into a very small room that barely fit 3 tables. The pub was closed. Access to the front door was obstructed during the day w construction activity. Parking spaces were reduced due to construction vehicles & pods occupying half of the lot. Hotel room was spacious but very musty. Our room was proactively upgraded. Although appreciated, this did not accommodate for the fact that most of the inn was closed to guests. Nearly all amenities outlined in our confirmation email were unavailable. The hotel manager waived the nightly parking fee of $25, which was kind but insignificant given the situation. The property GM refused to make any adjustment to our room rate, had no interest to address the situation in any meaningful way. Her arrogance regarding the issue was insulting.

Historic with charm. Ongoing Renovations though difficult now will make it even better. Great Staff

We chose the inn because of location and also for the ambiance. It did not disappoint. And the staff was super friendly and helpful.

The property was under construction/renovation. Had we known, I would have chosen another location to stay. We have stayed at the Ansonborough in the past and enjoyed it! It’s a unique and lovely space. However, this trip we arrived to a messy construction site. The hotel was by no means full, but the room we were given shared a bedroom wall w a supply closet for staff. We were woken before 8 am to staff gathering things from this closet for the day. It was disappointing over all. The Ansonborough has been one of our favorites in the past. Guests need to be told prior to booking that construction is ongoing.

Charming boutique hotel within walking distance to popular tourist attractions. Super Friendly, super helpful staff. Breakfast and wine/cheese hour included with room rate. Paid self-parking. We would stay here again.

Great location. Walkable to everything we wanted to see. Right next to grocery store.

The room is huge(!) and filled with classical furnishings. However, the windows may need to be upgraded to reduce the noise from East Bay St. The bathtub didn't drain very well. Overall, it was a delightful experience.

Quaint shipwreck feel. Very good bed, spacious room/suite, very nice staff.

The property is right next to a grocery store that has a good wine selection and some good produce and sandwich options. Depending on what you want, the location is awesome. We had good location for our tours and restaurants. If you are new to Charleston, as we were, this hotel is a great location. FYI we are a group of seniors, in reasonable shape.

Our(too short)2 night stay at the Ansonborough Inn was lovely. This hotel is one of the most charming properties we have ever stayed at. The wood beams and decor throughout lend to a very cozy, comfy feel. It’s almost like stepping back in time, but in a very good way! It is a very dog friendly hotel, but non dog owners would never know it except for the chalkboard greeting to the current four-legged guests, as well as the dog portraits hanging in the dining room(which we loved). This was our first trip to Charleston and if(when)we return, we will definitely stay here again bc of the charm factor, friendliness of the entire staff(nod to Kelly at the front desk)and walkability to dining, shopping, and attractions. Thank you for a fantastic stay!

Very nice Inn that is locating close to everything in historic Charleston. A nice wine and cheese reception and we met some nice people from WI!

Converted building with beautiful molding and wood inlays throughout. Unfortunately that also created darker passages but not uncomfortable. Staff was welcoming. Pet friendly hotel. Great location to nearby sights.

Great location near French Quarter and waterfront (www.iaam.org), waterfront taxi and ferry to Fort Sumter. Continental breakfast is way more - eggs, waffles, fresh fruit, yogurt and much more. Go to the roof deck for great view and to enjoy free Happy Hour wine and food. Some window renovations underway so not soundproof in some rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Hotel was conveniently located, friendly staff and large room (sitting room bedroom). It is an older hotel and some updates being made, carpet could use updating.

Sound seemed to travel from the room upstairs. We could hear talking and music. Fortunately it didn’t go late into the evening. The hotel is beautiful.

Convenient to downtown Charleston and easily walkable to area dining and attractions.

We were so impressed with how beautiful, and true to real Charleston elegance this hotel is.Wonderfully appointed with period style furnishings and grandeur of the past.
The cocktail hour, rooftop area and lobby were perfect Breakfast was a well done sevice of hot and cold foods.
Johnnie was especially helpful, knowledgeable, and customer minded. We loved her.
We were very sad to here that this lovely hotel has a future renovation which will forever change the unique ambiance of this grand place.
