Cons - Sadly worn curtains that were broken and unable to be closed to block the bright lights outside, a heater that only blew ice cold air, barely tepid water in the morning. Finally got a gas fireplace to work, only to have the fan squeak and rattle all night long. It did eventually warm up the frigid room though, which came in handy when there was only cool water with which to shower (even after it ran for 10 minutes). In-room coffee was super duper stale, I did eventually find a q-tip in my bag so I could stir in some sugar (still undrinkable). The clock hadn’t been set ahead since the fall time change, so I suspect the coffee had been there for at least that long. Breakfast downstairs was so-so. Eggs were done nicely and served warm, but the bacon was chilled enough that it must only have been pulled out of the walk-in cooler and put under a heat lamp for a mere moment…not long enough to warm it through or melt the congealed grease, though. At checkout I did bring things up and was told that due to safety valves that were installed, the water doesn’t get hot. Even warm would have been nice. Pros - Every single one of the staff were incredibly nice. Very friendly, as helpful as they could be given the circumstances. The room was very clean, the bed was REALLY comfortable. Nice sunrise. In the end, on one of the coldest nights of the year I was more fortunate than many others without the resources to rent a room. That said, next time I’ll keep driving.

I have stayed at the Gananoque Inn and Spa many times on my way to and from family in the States. I have always enjoyed my room and the property. This stay, however, was a completely different experience for me. I was tucked into the annex, which had limited amenities - no fridge or microwave and no access to ice - and a very loud heater that didn't work properly and kept me up for most of the night. I realize it's the off season, but that's no reason to provide guests with a second-class stay. The only positive was an updated bathroom with a decent shower. Based on this experience, the likelihood of me staying at this property again is doubtful. The Gananoque Inn is, clearly, a warm-weather destination.

Made a reservation through Hotels.com and asked for a room with a lake view. When we arrived at the hotel we were given a room with no lake view and were told that the lake view rooms get those who book directly through the hotel’s website (!) and not through the third party and we still could get a lake view room but needed to pay extra money. We did not want to ruin our stay and decided to pay the extra fee. Later we discovered and were disappointed that we paid much more than if we would book the same room initially through Hotels.com. For any other requests the staff was helpful and friendly. It is convenient that parking and breakfast are included in the pay. Gananoque Inn is a historical hotel and it is a heritage property. I would say that it is one of the gems of Gananoque town. It has a very good location. I really hope that the character, style of this hotel will not be ruined; I hope this heritage property will be preserved today and for future generations, no matter who is or will be a private owner of this hotel.

He had a lovely little get away at the inn. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the property and room were very clean. Locations was perfect for a late fall walk around the waterfront.

Great location, easy walk to multiple restaurants and the Thousand Islands Playhouse. It was nice to have a breakfast at the restaurant included in our stay, however the potatoes were under cooked and the toast had way too much butter on it. The staff were extremely friendly, I think they were just really busy the weekend we stayed. I would stay here again.

It was the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, and all banks were closed.The staff was very helpful. They exchanged some of our US currency to Canadien dollars. The best thing about this hotel is its location. It is withing walking distance to most places of interest in Gananoque.

I get that is is an old building. So the stairs are a bit off. The carpet isn’t the newest. But I give five stars for the bathrooms. They are great. I finally had a shower where the shower head is above me. At 6’4 that is a great feat.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. At first when we drove up to the hotel, it did have character but wasn’t sure how the inside looked. We were pleasantly surprised, they are renovating the inside which included the lobby ( which was beautiful) the bedroom, washrooms etc. The receptionist was very friendly as was the wait staff. We had our friend meet us there on our last night and were equally impressed as we were. We would definitely stay there again in the future.

I couldn’t recommend this hotel highly enough. It’s slightly dated - but that’s part of its charm. Modern-dated. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is amazing. 6-8 minute walk to the main street. View of the water from the patio and from most of the rooms.

We stayed 3 nights the property is run down but clean. One gentlemen at the front desk was attentive all the other staff payed no attention to you and were unhelpful. THE WORST BREAKFAST experience ever from service to food.

I loved the view of the river from our room. Also the restaurant on the balcony is very comfortable. Building itself need a facelift old carpeting removed ect.The restaurant staff appears very stressed and understaffed, we decided to eat dinner elsewhere, I blame the management not the support staff. Word to the managers;Please take care of your staff as it is noticed how you treat them.

Everything was perfect. A little expensive, though. And the corridor light at night bothered us a bit, since it went around the bedroom door, which didn't fit so well with the door frame (a few mm). Otherwise, the service is perfect. The staff are wonderful.

From the moment we stepped through the front door we were disappointed. Woman at the desk was rude. We must have had the worst room in the place. Our window looked out to a faux balcony that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. The windows were filthy and caked with dead flies. There were no blinds. This was the smallest king room I have ever seen, we could barely move. There was nowhere to sit other than the bed. The bathroom door was in front of the vanity, making it impossible for two people to get ready at the same time.

I reserved a third floor room on the main property at the rivers edge; we got a ground floor room in a house a block in from the river. Also, there were inches of black mold in the bathroom, and the place smelled terribly moldy.

This property is dirty and run down and a complete rip off for the price they charge. This hotel is dirty starting at its front door which by the looks of it hadn’t been cleaned in a week. The aged carpet needs a deep clean, the stairs and hallway looked like they hadn’t seen a vacuum in a week. The room was dirty - the coffee maker had the last guests coffee stains all over it, TV remote didn’t work, lights didn’t work, window screen was filthy and not fitting properly. The bathroom woodwork was a joke with exposed water lines. Avoid this property. It is evident the owners put little money back into the property.
