We like this place because it’s convenient to the beach and the village. Down fall is that the place is very noisy early in the morning with the cleaning crew.

I expected a lot more for the price we paid for the room. We got placed in a pool view room and it felt like a dark dungeon. The floor didn't look very clean, overall the room did not feel clean but maybe that's because it had very dark carpet and tile. Breakfast was gross, it was continental with bacon and sausage as the only hot items. The food was microwaved and left in a greasy paper plate and then the plate was placed in the warmer. I may not have been as disappointed but We had stayed at the SpringHill suites the day prior and my standards were set high.

While the reviews say it has been refurbished, certain things were still needing an update. The bathrooms especially with a cracked tub, cracked sink, rust on the intakes, wasn’t what we expected.

Breakfast was mediocre. Both breakfast host and food quality. Excellent location. Beautiful views. Safe parking and rooms. Across the street from beach and ocean. Pricey but worth the money.

While I do appreciate some of the extra touches provided at this hotel (robe, newspaper, free parking, list of activities, fireplace lit in lobby) there are some core areas that need improvement. The beds need to be replaced. The “hump” in the middle from years of people sleeping on the edge is the worst I’ve ever experienced. You literally feel like you are falling off the bed. Also, the carpets need to be replaced. It was ripped, torn and very old looking. I definitely felt the need to wear my flip flops at all times while walking on the carpet. The curtain was almost black from grease, grime and dirt from people opening the curtain. Needs to be cleaned or replaced. The doors throughout the property were dirty around the handle from people’s hands etc. They just need a simple Clorox bleach wipe down. The heater in the room worked well to heat the room but it was so loud we jumped every time it turned on and couldn’t have it on while we slept. While the location is amazing and the views spectacular, I will not be able to return unless these areas are addressed. Thank you very much for you consideration.

I stayed here with my two daughters and felt safe. We walked to dinner at Carlsbad village and grabbed yummy treats and the strawberry shack. The hotel fitted our needs. We were able to get DVDs from the rec room and they provided continental breakfast in our way out. They have some of activities throughout the week and a good rec room to loan out games and DVD’s. It also has a pool table and ping pong table. There was one loud guest above us but luckily they eventually got settled. It was nice to have free parking in the under ground garage they provide for one car

Loved the convenience of the location to everything which is always nice. But besides the place being clean, safe and quie, the hotel staff was friendly and very helpful from start to finish! Hard to find such great customer service!

The King Bed room was large enough and very comfortable. the pool area looked nice and clean. The whole property was kept very clean as many workers started early in the day with cleanup.

The only thing I would love to know was the rooms downstairs are for the people who are booking for fure days . And we can’t really see the beach view.the other rooms are for timeshare people.Everything else was good.

The room was an inside room view of the pool. We were on the first floor and it was like a prison room- small and had 2 small windows with NO view of the pool that would not even open. The air conditioning when turned on was like a jet engine running and the noise was so loud our friends in the room down the hall could hear it also. The fridge was also noisy and had to unplug it to get any sleep. The Breakfast was very odd also. The staff had to make your waffles and hand you out the plastic cutlery and it made it feel that we were really in prison to top things off. I do not recommend this place unless you take a outside view of the water room and want to have a poor quality breakfast.

A delightful stay. Everyone and everything bright and cheerful 😊 Staff friendly, helpful and courteous. Fabulous location with lovely ocean views. Great facilities and wonderful pool area 🏊‍♀️ Safe parking facilities. Village a mere few minutes walk away with an abundance of shops and restaurants.

This hotel was really nice. Right across from the beach. We drove short distances for food and shopping. The pool was nice however later in the afternoon there was no sun. Housekeeping was great and always had fresh towels.

Building is very dated and showing its age. The room was so incredibly humid. Everything in it was damp, the walls, the carpet, the papers, the bedding even felt damp. Location is unbeatable though! Staff was friendly too. Breakfast was a total joke! They had paper thin bacon or sausage Pattie’s, 3 cereal option, bagels and raisin toast. Parking was a little sketchy but nice that they had it.

Some of the electric plugs in the unit did not work. DVD player and TV were not operational. Staff needs to provide instructions on how to operate. Especially for us baby boomers.

The hotel was very nice and the staff was very accommodating. The cleaners came by every day and cleaned and gave us fresh towels and made our beds. The coffee with the free breakfast was VERY good and the waffles were yummy also. We had a room with a partial ocean view and it was a nice view. They even gave us free ear plugs when we discovered we both had a snoring problem. Lol.

Everything about this hotel was wonderful! I couldn’t believe how clean it was. They mopped the hallway floors every day. The staff was friendly and was there for everything you needed. We loved being able to see the beach from our balcony.The bed and towels were plush and comfortable. There are restaurants and shopping within walking distance. They offered a continental breakfast which was nothing to write home about, but was still available if you wanted something quick. We greatly enjoyed the hot tub and pool as well. These were also nice and clean and well-kept. We would definitely stay here again.

The Hotel is great, very nice. The grounds, the staff, the room, were all excellent. But... and that's a heavy But... The mattress in the room... no good, way too many miles on that mattress. Saggy, droopy, creaky, totally worn out. NO hotel manager should ever allow a mattress that bad in any room, on any property they manage. I spoke to the front desk and was told they would mention it to the general manager. Well... lots of other hotels in the same area. Just sayin'. This one needs to step it up and replace some mattresses. Other guests had similar complaints. I hate to give a bad review on such a nice place, but a comfortable night's sleep is important.

This property's location is perfect -- you're within walking distance to Carlsbad Village and lots of other cute restaurants and coffee shops. (Definitely go to Cafe Elysa for breakfast.) While the hotel rooms and property could benefit from a little upgrade, style-wise, it's still definitely clean and comfortable, and if you spring for the ocean view, you won't regret it.

After a hectic Dallas visit, it was wonderful to checkin at The Tamarack Beach Resort. Units are spacious and ours had a magnificent view of the ocean with table and chairs on the patio for that late afternoon glass of wine. The location is wonderful for touring historical district of Carlsbad and finding that perfect spot to relax on the beach. We very much appreciated the covered parking garage.

For our stay, right above us there were children running and jumping all hours of the night then very early in the morning. We didnt get no rest and had to catch our flight the next morning. Call the front desk and it just got worse after that. I know its not the hotels fault, but maybe put families with children on the bottom floor. The hotel itself was nice.

The floors turned our feet black, the walls are so thin you can hear everything around you. The shower head leaked, the bed was uncomfortable. The breakfast was gross. The only good thing about this place is the staff and the location.

My husband and I enjoyed a stay-cation here, especially the easy access to the beach, village restaurants, their adult-only pool time in the mornings! Complimentary parking and basic breakfast/coffee are a bonus, as was the roof deck for sunsets. Immaculately maintained though FYI some interior rooms are dark due to layout.
