The room is large with a porch. Great location! Not my first time.

Great experience. Never met any of the staff. Not sure what amenities are available. The room was great. It was clean and well stocked. Some of the bathroom vanity lights were out. The bed was very comfortable. Room was comfortable although I couldn’t figure out how to turn on the fireplace. No problem, didn’t need it. QUIET very quiet. Very relaxing. Location was great, easy access to restaurants and shops. Overall we were very happy with the facility. Plan on a return visit this winter to test the fireplace. ;). Thanks for the great stay.

No one was there to check me in....No person, No bell, no phone, no number to call . Luckily another guest gave me the phone number to call. I didn't have the phone number as I booked on line.. I called the number. A lady showed up and checked me in. The room was very nice and the location was great. Only the check-in was sketchy.

The room is huge! I have everything I could need… Fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, huge jacuzzi, fireplace, couch, closet, balcony, etc. You can tell things are old and slightly run down, but it almost adds to the charm! We are very much enjoying our stay.

Advertised on Hotels.com as a B and B and there is only the B and no B. Bare walls. Thin pillows. Towels minimal. No facial tissue or water glasses. Location is great and offstreet parking a plus. Office is not open.

This is our second stay. It’s a no frills hotel. If you don’t mind no desk service, the bare necessities and little else but a decent size room, somewhat clean and a nice gas fireplace plus it’s smack dab on Main St, within walking distance to everything. We had a suite which included a small kitchenette. As we had no direct customer service we were surprised that someone came into our room and cleaned. I didn’t expect that and didn’t like all my personal stuff in open view. Other than that, it was nice to have the room cleaned. We would stay again.

Bed and pillows were not comfortable. Location was great.

No staff whatsoever !!!

There aren’t any hangers in the closet. No A/C and it’s hot. Just instructions to check in. I didn’t understand them. This place was great a long time ago. What happened?

Pros: Keys were ready when we arrived (never met another person). Room was super big and had a balcony with great chairs. Cons: They had a thermostat but no actual AC and the room was quite warm. Also the bar next door played loud music till 10:30.

Unfortunately the fan was loud and I am an incredibly light sleeper but overall a great accommodation that I will definitely be using again.

There was no staff there. Only an envelope. The house was a little creepy and finding my room was an experience. There was only one light in my giant room.

We regularly stay here when in the San Francisco Area. Great location in downtown Half Moon Bay. The Zaballa House no longer does Breakfast, but there are a lot of breakfast choices within walking distance. Our rooms have always been large - but this time we had a suite with a large living room which we loved. The funkiness is the condition of the place - such as a Spa Bathtub that no longer functions as a Spa. Also - no front desk service - just a phone number for emergencies. We like the Zaballa House and will return.

No access to the main Victorian house which made Zaballa’s so unique! No breakfast which used to be served in main house. Very impersonal- key put in envelope with room no. Must climb outside flight of stairs to adjacent building to very sterile room . Mattress was terrible! No pictures or decor. Very disappointing as we stayed here before under previous owner! Didn’t realize it was no longer a bed and breakfast. It is centrally located which is good and could stand some plants and outdoor furniture on the deck in front of #25.

Clean room and not completely furnished looks like room was just painted and no wall paintings. Only slightly negative just need to update as not really a BnB. Perfect location in downtown and free parking onsite a plus plus. I recommend for location, price and cleanliness.

Hotel description misleading and inaccurate. In particular, this B&B advertised free breakfast included. NOT true. No breakfast available. No staff available at all! Advertised a/c non existent. Fireplace non functional. Simple amenity such as bathroom tissue non existent.

We loved the Victorian decor and the size of the rooms of our unit. The stairway (outdoors) is run down, but we did not mind. We liked being in town and able to walk to all shops. The beach is close by.

We liked the location and the quietness. We did not like that it was listed as a bed and breakfast, but there was zero information about it and it did not exist. A note would have been good.

Never saw anyone who worked there. Key card was in an envelope with my name on it. No instructions for check out, just ended up dropping cards in their mailbox. Room was very large, older decor, furnishings, it worked for a spot to stay for the night on a business trip for a reasonable price. This is not a spot to take a fancy vacation or to go expecting a classy B&B experience. In fact there was no breakfast available despite the name and listing saying there would be. Again never saw an employee while I was here. Lots of windows which was great during the day but let in a lot of light when trying to sleep. Reminded me of the rundown but kind of charming east coast beach town hotels/rural cabins you’d find 20 plus years ago. Shower took a long time to warm up and adjustments seemed overly fickle but it worked. My main and biggest complaint that really irritated me was the lighting in the room. Half the bulbs didn’t work and the ones that did provided all of about 20 watts of light total. Very annoying and uncomfortable. I know many hotels have subpar lighting but this is the worst I’ve ever had to tolerate. Investing in some brighter bulbs or a couple more lamps would have gone a long way to making the stay more pleasant. Didn’t hate it, didn’t love it, it served it purpose as a place to sleep but some better lighting, better window treatments and the promised breakfast would have taken this to an at least alright rating.

Room 12 is huge and seems like a honeymoon sweet. Nice spacious room with privacy

The hotel was centrally located giving us easy access to shopping, dinning and sight seeing. Loved accomdations.

Absolutely loved our stay here! Super clean, beautifully decorated and utterly charming!

We have stayed here before but we won’t go back after this. No heat - we had to call so they could explain how we had to light the pilot light. Several times during the night it would make a huge racket for 5-10 minutes at a time when it was restarting and woke us up. No breakfast. Nobody there to talk to in house. Room key was shut off 2nd day. Doors had to be slammed to close. Not a great experience.

Our room at Zaballa House was charming and very spacious. It was potlessly clean and comfortable.

Property was nice but the staff unfriendly when we went to breakfast and check out was at 11 we came back to our room to get our stuff to check out at 10 and was already locked out of our room! Up until then everything was great and when I went to the front desk they were so rude and just took the key and swiped it with out even saying anything. I just asked if check out was at 11 and the attendee just said yes with no explanation or anything. So disappointing. Other than that the room and area was great.

This hotel is in a central location. With some updating it could be a 4 or 5.
