Rooms are a little tired. They are clean though. The windows aren't soundproofed and you can hear the stag doo's in full voice below your window at weekends! We found the service to be great with friendly staff. Great location for The Glasshouse (Sage) which is why we picked it.

Limited parking onsite, 10min wk there's another car park which you can pay £8 for 24hrs (same cost at hotel). Good access to the quayside. Questioned when came in later (tick sheet). Police there in the morning but was all quiet for us.

The hotel was disappointing as it's no longer a 4* hotel, assuming it ever was. Like other reviewers mentioned, it's looking a little shabby, and the rooms are extremely basic. There isn't even a chair in the room so the desk is unusable for a working business trip and is essentially just a TV stand. There is a short bath. The toilet was located directly behind the door so not a well designed bathroom. The water pressure was next to none existent for every shower, so that was extremely disappointing. We mentioned it to the Receptionist to be told that in a hotel it's common for people on the same floor to use the shower at the same time and this can lead to low pressure, but they would look into it. I even had this issue at 11.45pm. There are blackout curtains but they don't cover the entire window, meaning the light goes round the edges and under the gap under the bedroom door. The room is also absolutely not sound proofed. We were woken up every morning by the cleaners accessing the linen cupboard next to our room, using their radios and loading their trolleys. We also experienced guests and staff shouting up and down the corridor. The bed was comfortable and the coffee from the machine downstairs was good. We had a view of the bins and courtyard. The hotel is well located to accessing Newcastle. The parking situation has also been raised by other reviewers. The hotel parking is tiny and the recommended alternative car park is 5-10 minutes' walk away up a hill.

Not sure how the hotel maintains the 4*status. The bar staff on the second day was great. They managed to get us a burger from the evening menue an hour before the lunch menue finished. Highly appreciated. The breakfast was for £16 p.P. A bit pricey for what it was. The superior room was 11qm with a bathroom where the fan didn’t work and the walls were wet.
