Great location as home base if you are exploring Mt St Helens. The cabin was clean, well appointed, and a great place to stay with our pup. We cooked at home mostly - we primarily grilled which worked out great (charcoal grill) . Recommend bringing all cooking ingredients like oil, spices, etc. And if you require a high quality non-stick pan, you might want to bring that too.It rained most of the time but we were able to get in some fire pit time, which was lovely and relaxing. Cell reception is poor in the entire area, and while the cabin has WiFi it didn’t seem to handle streaming content well, so we leveraged the vast DVD collection once we were done exploring. It was quite fun to live like it was 1995 again: Besides enjoying the cabin, we hiked Ape Canyon, Lava Canyon falls, and the Ape Caves - all conveniently located (less than 30 min) highly recommend! Also ate at both Lone Fir and Cougar Bar and Grill - both were great. Overall we had a great time and would definitely come back and stay!

We had the absolute best little family weekend here! The cabin was cozy, clean and had everything we needed for a successful stay. Beautiful, peaceful and quiet! The only neighbor that appeared home was the house being renovated on the drive in (friendly, no issues!) We enjoyed saying hi to the horses on neighboring property. Anne was super quick to respond to questions regarding the fire ban and again when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the bathroom. We so appreciated the extra headlamps for exploring Ape Cave. Our 3 year-old had a blast and made some core memories this stay... first ever campfire and s'mores, caves, lava tube and lots of new hikes at Mt St. Helens. Thank you for a wonderful experience. We hope to make this a tradition and return soon!

The stay was just right for us, our baby, small dog, and my mother. We explored the area in between nap time and even had a nice fire outside when baby went to bed!As expected, the neighbors were more noticeable than one would want. For example, when we pulled up there was about three dogs that came in and my husband had to get them all out to shut the gate. The neighbor came over and apologized and said he wouldn’t have had the dogs out if he knew people were staying. Our small dog is afraid of dogs so we didn’t like that they just came in and quickly came to sniff our dog. Not ideal, it bothered us as it was the first thing that happened when we got there…but then it was completely fine! there is a really great privacy fence that helps.

Nice cabin, great location for Mt St Helens hikes. Water pressure comes and goes at cabin which wasn't good but other than that we had a great stay.
