Arrived at 2pm sat. Room wasn’t ready. At 3:30 given room 308 told wrong room given key to room 306 guests already in 306. Ver embarrassing when I walked in on them. My bathroom had mold all around tub looked disgusting. I really wanted a bath but I wouldn’t even shower in it. $160. Was extremely high priced for such a shoddy room.

Was a good stay but they always have the same tired breakfast not much to choose from and in the morning no hot water for a shower I took a Luke warm shower at best or maybe cause the heater was on maybe made it feel that way but also in the morning the guy came around early trying to get all the towels so he could wash them witch I thought was weird it’s like wait till we leave but whatever so he came in got towels out of the bathroom but was only 3 so he said there is only 3 did you steal the others? I said wait what? I said are you serious? Dude there on the bed the remaining 3 towels 2 big and a small one we used then he oh ok I was just joking I said yeah sure you was so go ahead and go we need to finish getting dressed and since you came in here I want an extra hour for our inconvenience so he did but I was like this is crazy to do that

Hotel is very old and outdated. No microwave in the room or spot for mini-fridge so it just sits in the walkway. The shower handles are broken and not working correctly. Stay somewhere else if you can.

Nick at the front desk was amazing, will book again

Rooms are antiquated with window units to heat and cool the room. VERY limited electrical outlets for plugging modern devices. Room was noisy from street noise. Parking situation was confusing and should be better explained in hotel description (parking is in the lot of the hotel behind this hotel because they own both, but that is not readily apparent). “Breakfast” was sparse but clean. Perfect location for downtown access.

Super disappointed. Not at all what the pictures show. They are in the middle of remodeling. At least finish the rooms before you rent them out. No outlets, just tape over future plugs. No lights that worked, except the overhead one, which was dim. The new attempt of modernizing the rooms is a failure. This is a historic hotel, don’t make it look like motel 6 (which would have been better). There is no charm to this place anymore. We think there was semen on the walls. Just awful. Stay somewhere else. Front desk staff was no help and did not even apologize when we brought this up. I don’t think they were impressed by the place they worked at.

There's nothing quaint or rustic about Sonora Inn, it's just run down and severely dated. Everywhere you look there's shoddy maintenance and outdated junky furniture. The front staff is a joke, especially the clown that works evenings, he's particularly useless. Save your money and go elsewhere. The ONLY redeeming quality about this Inn is its location. Walking distance to all things downtown Sonora.

Very helpful staff.
Poor condition, very loud traffic noise.

Nice staff. Clean place. Wishwe could have checked in earlier. Ice machine needs to be serviced and a filter.

Love that the hotel is old and unique but the room was not very clean. Parking was completely full and we had to park off-site. Bed was comfortable and the staff are very friendly.

My friend and I came for a wedding. We were disappointed that we couldn't get into our room early to change our clothes. We did ask for early room access a few weeks before our stay.

Clean rooms, comfortable bed, new paint. This is an older building that adds charm. Location was perfect to walk to dining and entertainment. Fun place to visit!

Loved staying here!

I love the old decor and history of the Sonora Inn, but for the price I paid for the room, I must say I was disappointed. The bed were comfortable and sheets clean, but that was about it. The carpet were so dirty and stained, we put extra towles on the floor to keep our feet clean. There were stains on every wall, the furnishings were dusty, there was mold on the bathroom ceiling, doors and doorhandles were dirty. Frankly, the room was disgusting and unbelievably dirty. There is renovations on going to this hotel, but until they are completed, I cannot recommend this hotel and I would advise against staying here.

Carpet was the dirtiest I've ever seen in hotel. Elevator was out. Sink got clogged. Staff was pleasant. Recommend not booking until the place is rehabbed.
1.0
Terrible stay, the elevator not working (apparently out for the past 2 weeks) toilet ran, the sink leaked, the staff argued on the floors for all to hear, the checkout staff was not friendly or apologetic, continental bksft, and coffee was horrible, muffins/bagels staled and the hotel i'm sure is not up to CA codes. Will not return or recommend it at all

We’ve stayed here many times, and this place is classic! It’s unique and mystifying and definitely haunted!! We’ve changed our trip itinerary to make sure we spend at least one night there when we visit Yosemite.

It was a very nice relaxing stay

This is the worst room I’ve ever stayed in. No windows, bad smelling, dirty. Tiny bathroom with not hot water in the sink that wouldn’t drain. Shower automatically fluctuates between scalding hot and cold.

We really enjoy the pool. Sonora can be a hot place, and the pool is really refreshing.
The breakfast is good as well, although the breakfast room could use an air conditioner.

The hotel has a ways to go in updating the rooms.

Carpeting was badly stained. The wall was stained and so were the chairs. Noise from a non-stop line of traffic was VERY loud. The bar across the street got a little rowdy at night, especially at closing time with loud music, loud patrons and the Police.

when you register on the computer you submit all your info. then when you srrive they ask you for the same info already sebmitted. this takes at least 10 min. instead of two Why can't they prepare all the paperwork in advance and all we would do was verify and sign.

Not worth $170 a night. Over priced for the room was so dirty. Carpets disgusting in the room, was not cleaned prior to our overnight. Small room, nothing on the walls like in the pictures. If your renovating, fine, should be charging people less for staying in a crappy, dirty room. Only plus, fridge in room. Please no comment back, I don't want nor need your sorry excuses management, I have read enough of them in the other reviews.

Room is soooo small, and terrible smell inside of the room. They did too much photo editing of their hotel room, it isn’t even close to what the room supposed to look like.

Hotel is a vintage of historic value. Rooms are of an early 1930’s design. Electric updated however hard items in room in need of repairs. Free Breakfast good. Some front desk staff not knowledgeable of the area.

I went with a friend and stayed here for one night for a concert. The parking situation was interesting as it's a shared parking lot with the hotel across the road. When we first walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff and cute vintage lobby. Upon checking into our room, the room had a terrible odor and the AC unit was very loud. The carpets appeared very dirty and the bathroom was questionable. There was cracked paint everywhere and the toilet was stained. The bathtub was cracking and old and when you flush the toilet it made a terrible noise. The continental breakfast was nice and there was a decent selection for a free meal. I probably wouldn't stay here again due to the disheveled condition of the hotel room, but the staff was very nice and the location was convenient.

The location is great and the staff were very friendly and helpful, however the hotel needs some updating. The furniture and decor is very old and worn. The shower goes hot and cold without reason, the outlets on one wall didn't work, the TV didn't get major channels (like NBC), the walls are thin and you can hear what's going on in the room next door.

Loved our stay. The staff were so friendly! Hope to be back soon!

We loved Sonora! It is definitely a great place to stay a weekend and visit the town. The hotel is ok, but it definitely has to improve in cleanliness and the smell, which reminded me of drainage or humidity. The breakfast was perfect: everything you need to have a complete meal and it was so American (with Waffles and peanut butter)! The hotel includes a cute swimming pool, necessary in summer!

This property is not good if you are coming with kids. Very compact and unclean . The carpet is super dirty. Bathroom tub is not good and dirty. There is not air ventilation. Very small TV and dirty broken Chair we found . In the night it was noise because of Neighbour doors noise .

This property was disgusting. Mold in the shower and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. I had to move location. Bummer cause this hotel is in a good location.

I am from Sonora and The Sonora Inn is a historic building and a corner stone of downtown. In my 40 years I had never stayed there until a week ago. Knowing it's history, I was not expecting fancy, but wow this was awful. I stayed two nights, Monday and then later in the week on Thursday (I attempted to change the Thursday reservation but was unsuccessful). My first room on Monday was on the third floor (310). There were no signs on the walls indicating where your room was which is concerning in the event of an emergency. The carpet was absolutely filthy and stained, the air conditioner was broken and the floors were slanting so terribly that when you laid in bed, your head was below your feet. When you rolled over in bed you could hear the coils in the matress. The second room we stayed in later in the week (220), was cleaner, except for the bathroom. The toilet bowl was brown and clearly hadn't been cleaned, there was no hot water in our sink and the shower faucet was broken. When I went down to notify the the front desk staff, the gal shrugged her shoulders and said "we had people in the room today fixing the bathroom fixtures, they must've messed something up". She then turned her back to me and kept folding papers. No offer to remedy the situation. There are signs on the second floor that notify guests they are under construction so hopefully someday these things will be fixed. But for now, book with caution.

The Hotel foundation is slanting. Our bed was on a downhill slope so our head was lower than our feet. Dirty carpet. Just gross.
Check in staff have a bad attitude. Not wanting to help.
We will never be staying here again.
