We were first placed into a room that had a musty old smell. Next day we were moved to a similar room but much better for air quality. Windows do not open. The carpets and fridges need replacement. $15. / day parking across the street. Staff were very friendly. The beds have super soft mattresses which we enjoyed. Discount on food / drinks in pub next door.

Haven't stayed here in a year or so. Good to see familiar faces still here.
Room was spacious. Somewhat utilitarian in furnishings.
Bed was great. Cleanliness was not what I remember. Hair stuck on the back of the bathroom door wasn't impressive. The shower needs a new enclosure...grout is moulding.
Fantastic refurbishment of the restaurant onsite! Great vibe! Great food!
Not a bad visit by any means. Just some attention to detail is needed.

I have never met with such kinder, lovelier front desk staff anywhere! I have a spine that is mostly fused and which can affect my walking and my ability to carry things. The staff were one step ahead of me all the way, even seeing potential hazards that I may have missed. And they were kindness itself. All this during a week when my son’s life was in severe jeopardy at the Royal Columbian Hospital and in their ICU, the staff of the Met did everything they could to help me. It was all subtle - no big fuss - and it was a blessing to go there at night knowing I was safely and thoughtfully cared for. They will all have my love and gratitude forever.

The check in and out experience was easy. The room was not large but had what we needed. The bed was comfortable but the linens were too light for the season. Bathroom is dated.
Did not appreciate being woken up by housekeeping vacuuming in the hall at 8:10am, waking me up on a Saturday morning.
Location is noisy on the front side but it did not prevent me from sleeping.

Pretty much what I expected for the price. The staff were friendly and helpful. The common areas seemed pretty decently maintained. The room itself was clean in the important ways, but quite a few things were dusty including cobwebs hanging from the lights beneath the fan and some appliances. Lots of cobbled together extension chords around the room (including one that didn't work). Some of the furniture should probably be reupholstered soon.
Overall, though, it was inexpensive, and the bed was clean and comfy, and the bathroom was too, which is mostly what we were looking for.

The only thing i liked about the hotel was its location. Staff doesn’t really greet or care about customers at all, they’re just working for their paycheque

Decent stay for the price , area is quite noisy from the sky train , windows in rooms don’t open and staff was just ok, not overly friendly or welcoming . For the money a decent place for the night but would probably not stay there again if there were other choices close by .

First the staff were helpful with a broken tv and we were impressed by how clean the room was. On the down side, the tub was in bad shape, the trim needed painting and the chairs all needed replacing. The street noise was loud until about 1 am, and kept us awake. Honestly though what we paid was fair.

The room was filthy sheets not clean, towels in the bathroom dirty beds are very old.

The property is located on a busy and noisy street and we could hear people yelling late into the night. It is an older building that needs some upkeep and repairs. Beds were comfortable, location was great.

Very basic. Just had a steamy lovemaking with my gay partner and then left after

When booking I was enticed by the waterfront location and the ratings 8.8. I specifically requested a quiet room however there were many sirens, noise from other guest rooms and the waterfront is looking through very dilapidated buildings on the other side of the street and a few hundred metres away. The room was tired and the bathroom very tired/dysfunctional - taps, shower head, tiles, towels.
It was a convenient location.

We had to check in late and check out very early, so having someone at the front desk was very appreciated. There was some noise from the street outside the bar downstairs, but the room was nice otherwise.

Great location. Subway station is right around the corner.

LIKE:The property is well located wrt new westminister watrr front.
DID NOT LIKE: Rooms dirty, beds worn out, carpet thin.

A charming but older hotel in downtown New West. The Skytrain station provides both convenience and frequent noise. In any other locale this property would rate much higher.

When we saw earbuds on the night table we asked myself why.
The metro link train runs next to our room. That explained the ear plugs.
The front desk staff was exceptional, and so were the ladies who serviced our room.
Over all our stay was pleasant. We would stay there again, only if we get a less noisier room.

Very much enjoyed my stay. Staff was accommodating to my needs. The bar downstairs was relaxing and also very nice, staff was excellent. As well there was the skytrain was just around the corner, so that was a bonus. Will definitely book again when I'm back in town.
Thank you

This property is convenient for our stays in New Westminster. We have stayed here several times. Front desk staff are always friendly and professional, the rooms are decent, and the parking is close by. The location is good, so light sleepers should note that the hotel backs onto the SkyTrain line, which can be heard through the closed windows.

Wasn’t pleased with my stay. The staff were helpful but the hotel was not in great shape. There was smoke coming in the room from the outside; where people were smoking from the pub downstairs. The room didn’t have a clean and fresh smell. Not a place I would stay again.

While the property is dated, it is right next to the SkyTrain.
I enjoyed the sound of the SkyTrain as it was a constant, regular noise - almost like white noise. While dated, the room felt clean. The room was spacious and had plentiful electrical sockets. I didn't use the tv, but it was well placed and large. There is a pub downstairs and you get a discount when you stay at The Met. There are lots of other food options within the block, and lots of things to do. The beds were large and comfortable and had lots of pillows. I don't think I've ever slept so well.
The carpets are old, and the bathroom could do with a regrout, and the skytrains are loud. Other than those extremely minor things, the stay was excellent.
The only other issue was that parking was across the street in a public lot, which was fine but make sure you empty out your car, as the front desk will remind you. You really don't need a car to stay here, but walking from the parking or the SkyTrain at night night make you nervous.
And lastly, the front desk was lovely. Really appreciated their friendly smiles when coming through the lobby.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and would definitely books again.

Everything was going well until we got back to the hotel and were getting ready for bed. When I went to close the blinds I saw a cockroach run across the windowsill and there were bugs in the bathroom. As we were trying to sleep you could hear a slight ticking sound from the roaches. Other than that the hotel was nice. The staff was friendly and check in went smoothly.

I stayed in room 332 on October 17 2023. At 6:30pm, I saw a rat inside the TV cabinet. I went to reception to report it, and she casually replied “are you afraid of rats?”. I said yes, and asked for another room. She moved me one floor below. It was too noisy to sleep and the shower had not been cleaned- lots of hair in the tub drain.
It was not worth the cost given the issues I experienced.

Great location, so close the train! Perfect for going to see Guns N Roses. I did have a small issue with my room and the manager Melody was amazing and helpful, I’d happily stay there again. 436 was a great room, beautiful view, that bathroom was sweet too, nice deep tub that was amazing for a soak the morning after!

I appreciated that the hotel was close to the venue for my gathering. There was a park across the street, on the river which was lovely to visit, sit in the sun & attend the activity that happened to be going on at the time. Even though I was near the skytrain, the sound was very muted & I did not notice it. The Fraser River Discovery Center was near by & I enjoyed the short walk to it & leaning in the Center. Famlies were out on the boardwalk. I mentioned a few things that were needing attending to in my room when I left but I do not know if they were attended to. I would hope that they were.

The Met was really clean and the staff amazing.

Room we had was small but clean with a queen bed, clean sheets and a small table. TV is an older model so we weren't able to cast anything (we don't watch cable which they do provide)
The only downside is that it's next to the sky train which can get loud at night when it's quiet.

We were initially positively surprised by the room, it was nicely furnished and spacious for the price. The first night was quite cold and the traffic noise was noticeable but bearable. We ended up checking out early though after one night and went someplace else. After returning from an outing the second day we noticed that mice had gotten into our bags. The staff were nice and made the refund process through Expedia smooth.

The hotel is almost in a state of disrepair. The area around the hotel unfortunately isn’t great either. The price affects the level of tolerance one can have for these things.

Amenities were a bit old and broken, but was immediately offered replacement and it was great

The location is great. It is just above the sky train station. Staff at front desk are very helpful. You can see the fraser river at room facing the front side. The view is great but very noisy. Rooms at higher floor have better view. Room facing the rear side is very quiet but without view.

This is a cute little boutique hotel that is older but well-maintained. The historic building dates back to the late 1800's and the tiny lobby has pictures of the hotel before and after the fire of 1898 destroyed all but two buildings in the the New Westminster area- this hotel being one of the surviving buildings.
The hotel is conveniently located just steps away from a Transportation/Metro/Train station and is reasonably priced. My room was clean and comfortable. The hotel offers no-charge wifi. Ice must be obtained from the front desk so don't wait until too late- the font desk is unmanned after about 11 pm or so. 10/10- would stay again!
