A unique opportunity to stay in a piece of Buffalo history. The restoration to this amazing piece of architecture is worth seeing in person. Only stayed one night, but service was good and continental breakfast was quite good. Beautiful grounds to walk around.

Absolutely love staying here - only qualm is no fridge in the room, but this is easily circumvented with a cooler and a bag of ice.
We always love our time here!

Really cool place in a great setting and lovely location. Close to galleries, restaurants and a massive park area to explore. Rooms are a bit smaller than I expected but the beds are comfy and it's got all you need. Double check that your bed has a mattress pad on it and that the shower gel is full.....but recommend for sure!

The architectural details are stunning.
As is the history behind this beautiful building.
We stayed in a queen size room but it was quite tiny.
There was a huge spot light that shone in our room all night.
Even with the blinds closed it was incredibly bright.
Why they would have placed us on that side of the building is beyond odd?
The hotel was empty.
Barely a car in the driveway and we never ran into another guest the entire stay.
Upon first glance, it looked like an enormous blood stain on the carpet.
I’m not convinced it wasn’t.
There were two of us and they only gave us one small bottle of water.
We wanted to enjoy a cup of coffee in our room in the morning and they left us two decaffeinated coffees and coffee mate.
My husband then went to the lobby to fetch a cup of coffee but it was abysmal.
We dumped it immediately.
They gave us exactly two towels and the hairdryer barely blew air.
Our meal and servers at the hotel’s restaurant were absolutely lovely. Natalie is a star.
The cocktails were delicious as were our pasta dishes.
I would highly recommend the restaurant.
The hotel? Not so much.

My stay at the Richardson was very pleasant. Parking was easy, and the front desk staff were friendly and informative. The whole building is gorgeous and very historical without feeling "dingy". I had dinner with cocktails at the bar and it was delicious. Overall a wonderful stay and would definitely return.

The history of this place is very interesting. The architecture is amazing and the renovation work they did was excellent.

The hotel its self was unique. It was really nice - the rooms were a nice size and the ceilings were high, staff was polite. We experienced a driving ban during our stay and it was unfortunate not to have vending machines or a place to purchase snacks, drinks as the bar had a very limited menu and the prices were very high and hours were limited however the staff was nice

Hotel was beautiful and grand. The architecture was stunning. The food, signage, and hospitality were adequate but did not meet my expectations.

We enjoyed our stay at the Richardson Hotel. It is truly a unique property to stay at in Buffalo! We enjoyed the small architectural museum on the bottom level, and the bar as well. My only small quibble is that the shower door allowed some water to escape. It was not a huge deal and we enjoyed our stay! Would recommend to friends and family.

Superbly appointed hotel, rich in history. Great location!! Walking distance to the spectacular Buffalo AKG Art Museum and to lovely Delaware Park. Close to downtown activities but in a more culturally rich area. Highly recommend this hotel and area.

The building is amazing. We live locally and have been wanting to stay here for a while because it is such a cool place. The staff was very nice and the room was spotless. The building is quirky but in a great way. The halls are filled with photos from around the city and inviting little nooks to sit in and just enjoy the architecture. We didn't get to try the restaurant because it wasn't open on the night we stayed.

Everything was amazing but the service at the bar. She did not seem like she was happy to be there and made us wait while sitting at the bar for around 15 minutes before our order was even taken .

So cool to stay in a renovated asylum. Love what they did with it. The only negative thing I have to say is the smell in the room, like a dentist office or some strong chemical. My hair smelled like it after sleeping there. I like that they had some history on the buildings in a museum room. The bar and diner were amazing!

Incredibly unique property and hotel. Loved learning about the history and the renovation. The main building was beautiful and the room was very clean, modern, comfortable, and spacious.
The continental breakfast was very basic with no hot food offerings, but the food that was offered was good and free!

The hotel its'self is a beautifully renovated historic property. It is clean and well decorated. The issue is the staff and the food, both are way under par particularly for the prices they are charging. We had drinks in the bar and dinner in the dinning room. Drinks are over priced when the service is mediocre at best. The bar is very small and no excuse for not seeing us sitting at the table in front of the bar.I had to go to the bar and ask to be served. Dinner the dinning room was a major disappointment. Pasta was $25-30 a plate, no bread , and one protion was a full size and the other was less than a cup. no refills for water, dirty dishes on the table when dessert was served. 6 people in the restaurant so no excuse. And who has an Italian restaurant with no expresso machine!
The front desk staff are not friendly, and very close to rude.
For a hotel trying to sell itself as a 4 star hotel, they need to seriously work on the food and beverage service and quality and the front of the house staffing needs a full overhaul.

Very interesting building especially if you have interest in architecture. Excellent remodel of an old building, rooms and hotel interior feel modern. One improvement would be if hotel could address the heating system in room as main vent fan blows directly into your face as you sleep. Perhaps need different vent cover to change air flow direction.

Absolutely beautiful and historic property with excellent staff, easy parking, comfortable beds, and great amenities. The price is very fair, if not cheaper than expected (winter season).

This hotel is such a unique experience. There is so much history behind it that it is amazing just to walk around and see how much the hotel has changed (but also stayed the same) during renovations. The staff was wonderful and the dining options are fantastic.

Richardson is a former mental institution with restoration /conversion executed perfectly.
Cucina restaurant was excellent.
Very close to newly reopened AKG.
Will definitely return.

Great place to stay and the architecture is stunning. They need a little concessions / provisions shop! Yes, we believe the spirits like the renovations as well 😉

This property was stunning! It is a refurbished asylum built in the late 1800’s. The views and ability to walk around the area are endless.

The property was absolutely incredible! The decor was beautiful and the historical background was intriguing. We enjoyed the proximity to local attractions, but the in-house museum about the facility was the most interesting.

My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 for facilities was that the bar and restaurant are not open on Sunday night which is when we stayed. The hotel is beautiful. Unique. Front desk staff extremely helpful and nice to us.

Our stay at the Richardson Hotel was thoroughly enjoyable. The rooms were beautifully decorated and well maintained. The staff was always pleasant and eager to help with any concern we had. The history behind the building and efforts to bring it up to high standards made for an added aspect to the stay.

I think it's a little bit of expensive for the room size and what we had. The room was clean but there was nothing special to pay extra compare to other hotels, except to the history of the building. We even did not have enough coffee and tea in the room. It was stingy.

This Hotel is awesome! The rooms are spacious. Dining and lounge at hotel was great. Walking distance to Daniela’s felt very safe. Food there was delicious too. The hotel has so much history and the results of renovation are so beautiful. This hotel is a must see! Worth every dollar we spent.
