We had a wonderful stay at Hanul Vatra, and this is definitely one of those places where the atmosphere is just as important as the accommodation itself.
Hanul Vatra has a very special charm. It has the feeling of an old traditional Romanian inn, with a beautiful historic style, but at the same time it has been modernised enough to provide the facilities and comfort you expect today. The combination works really well.
❤️ What We Loved
The food deserves a special mention! 🍽️
We chose to have all three meals here, and we were honestly very happy with our decision.
For only 65 RON/person/meal, we had a buffet-style arrangement with two different dishes to choose from at each meal, plus various sides and other foods. During our stay we enjoyed things such as meatballs, soups, omelettes, sausages, eggs, bread, tea, milk, sarmale, different salads, chicken, pork, tomatoes, cucumbers and several types of cheese.
The food is not trying to be fancy or overly sophisticated — and that's actually what makes it so good. It feels like proper, traditional Romanian food, prepared in a simple and tasty way.
Considering the quality, quantity and variety, 65 RON/person for a full meal is excellent value for money.
And the people make the experience even better.

🌳 The Location & Nature
This is probably one of the biggest advantages of Hanul Vatra.
There is a beautiful river/stream running behind the property, with a little bridge leading across it towards a large area filled with trees and eventually the forest.
It's peaceful, green, wild and incredibly relaxing.
You can simply walk around, sit outside, listen to the water and enjoy nature. It's the kind of place where you can actually disconnect from the noise and stress of everyday life.
The large grounds are a huge bonus as well. Other guests have also highlighted the stream, garden and peaceful surroundings, and I can completely understand why.
🏠 Our Accommodation
We had a large and beautiful apartment with two rooms, plus a very spacious bathroom.
There was plenty of space for us, and we really liked the traditional character of the building.
I particularly liked how Hanul Vatra manages to preserve that old Romanian inn / early-1900s house feeling, while still incorporating modern necessities.
You can see modern touches such as TVs, plenty of lighting throughout the corridors — which is particularly useful in the evening and at night — and even an EV charging point in the parking area.
There is also a large parking area, which is another big advantage, especially if you are travelling by car.
🛠️ One Small Improvement
There is really only one thing I would strongly recommend improving:
Please consider installing mosquito nets on the windows and balcony doors. 🦟
With such a beautiful natural setting, next to the river and surrounded by so much greenery, this would make a lot of sense and would allow guests to enjoy the fresh air much more comfortably, especially during warmer months.
It's a relatively small improvement, but I think it would make a noticeable difference.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hanul Vatra.
If you are looking for somewhere with character, history, nature, traditional Romanian food, peace and genuinely welcoming people, then this is absolutely worth considering.
For us, the combination of the beautiful old-style building, spacious accommodation, excellent food, wonderful people, large garden, river and surrounding forest made this a very pleasant and memorable stay.

Locatia este splendida, restaurarea monumentului istoric a fost facuta de un profesionist desavarsit, interiorul amenajat cu foarte mult bun gust.

O locatie superba, personal foarte amabil. Micul dejun traditional si foarte gustos. Extra beneficiu: posibilitatea de a lua cina la han. O experienta foarte placuta, care va fi folosita de acum incolo ca si etalon!

Locația este excelenta pentru relaxare maxima, cazarea foarte buna, mâncarea buna, curtea si împrejurimile superbe. Turismul foarte dezvoltat in zona. Locația foarte aproape de obiective protejate UNESCO. Chiar si dacă nu ești mare fun mănăstiri/biserici, ar fi păcăt sa nu vizitezi mănăstirile din apropiere, ridicate de Matei Basarab sau Constantin Brâncoveanu.
Lipsa unui cos de gunoi in camera si faptul ca nu s-a ridicat gunoiul din baie. Pentru un apartament in care au locuit 4 persoane, faptul ca s-a ridicat gunoiul de la baie ( in lipsa si a altor coșuri de gunoi in camera) a fost deranjant. De asemenea, este deranjant mirosul de mâncare care se simte pe holuri. Recomand deschiderea geamurilor pe holuri pentru a permite aerisirea. Noroc ca in camere nu intra mirosul.
