They allow pets but have hidden fees for resort and pets etc. pretty standard roadside motel.

The hotel was nice but there was no power when we woke up till we checked out

this property was very affordable. It has a very nice glamorous entrance and a very large parking lot. The common areas are very nice. It has a little café, which has very moderate food. Nothing to write home about and a little bar area which is cool not much in the vending since they don’t have a shot to buy any food but they have a little area that may have a few things like a sandwich or two and some drinks and some chips. Reception was really nice very friendly Staff, we got a couple of coupons to get some very discounted drinks. Elevator access to the rooms were easy. Apparently there’s about 140 rooms. Once you get out the elevator to your rooms, the corridor leading to the rooms are a little rundown the flooring carpet is rippled an old it looks like they are doing a slow partial renovation. The rooms are very very spacious with fridge and coffee nice shower, etc. The sheets look a little old little but felt clean . overall no complaints it’s not a five star and it’s barely a four star but we will definitely come again when we come to the gymnastics competition again next year. Very good value.

The hallways to get to the rooms are long, which is not a problem, but all the carpets are so old and wrinkled, and our suitcase caught twice, and we nearly fell.
They do not have a bellboy to help with suitcase, the Garnet gala area was nice, the food were amazing. The staff and the helpers were wonderful.

Property, rooms, halls, carpets., etc needs upgrade, but is clean. Common areas like 1st floor land 3er floor lobby pretty nice, restrooms on lobbies pretty too, restaurant and bar personal very friendly.
Near to the hotel a lot of restaurant, no walkable at least for me, is close to the property by car.

Nice accommodations and only 7 minutes away from family.

It was extremely unpleasant. Our original room had dirty bed sheets that were covered in hair. The clerk was extremely rude and only allowed us to change rooms after my wife argued with him. When we requested housekeeping, no one came by. They also snuck in a mandatory $20 per day “amenity” fee, which was only a couple of bottles of water and WiFi. Overall, my wife had an awful experience and would not stay there again.

The Hills Hotel is a nice hotel. Quiet, they have a bar and restarant. Room was clean, with modern fixtures and decor. I would stay there again when I come back to California.

The hotel is RUN DOWN! It needs a much needed TLC and remodel. The carpet in the walkways are wrinkled and torn. You can hardly roll your luggage on them. The room is a good size but it needs to be maintained. There is visible wear and tare all pf the place. The items that have been attempted to get fixed, looks terrible! I wouldnt stay here again. Its shocking that this hotel is owned by a bigger corporation that owns 6,000 hotels yet it looks like its bet let go completely. The potential is there but the hotel reminds me of a motel!

Delayed check in, broken bathroom door handle, broken television, broken lock on door, ants in the bathroom, damage to my rental vehicle by the hotel, and an unhelpful staff with no response from management made this a very poor stay.

The first room I was put in smelled like pet urine/feces. I called the front desk and they put me in a better room.

I would give no star

It was close to where I needed to be...but be aware that there is ongoing freeway construction going on, and they start making really loud noises at 7 am...ask for a room on the side of the building away from the 5...
also this property is dated and in need of a serious renovation.
The people I dealt with were ok...not sure I would stay here again tho.

$20 "mandatory amenity fee" added at check in. What a negative start! Just put it in the price.... if you need the money. Feels sneaky and underhanded. Very noisy - with very large group event. Drunk people pounding on doors. Could easily hear people's conversations in next room. Heater didn't work on cold night. They sent a maintenance person - who got the fan to work, but not the heater. Definitely would not stay here again.

I have no idea why this hotel is rated as highly as it is. We stayed in room 230. There's obvious water damage in the walls, they're all bubbly and likely have mold. The slider door to the bathroom has water damage, because the shower doesn't have a full door and water splashes out the entire time. The carpets are raised, dirty, stained, torn in the hallways. The grout in the shower tiles is dirty and the tiles are cracked. The beds were rock hard. We ended up having to pay 70 more for some convenience fee and for our dog, even though we had specified we had a dog when we booked. So for one night at this 2 star place we paid around 220. The front desk was quick and friendly at check in, and we got 2 free drink tickets for the bar, these were the only pluses. I don't write reviews unless a place is really good, or really bad. Spend your money elsewhere.

This property was a hot mess. The hot tub was roped off with caution tape. The “fitness center” was tiny and smelled bad. The bar closed at 10pm. There is no private area to take a call outside of your room. The rooms are janky: the fan doesn’t stay on and the bathroom door doesn’t close all the way. I do not recommend at all.

Stayed here for a business trip to the area. The hotel has some age on it, but it is well-maintained and clean, which is all I ask. The hotel staff was very friendly. The wifi is free and fast and lots of free parking is available. The are a few shopping and restaurant options within a short driving distance. I would stay here again if in the area.

Stay here every time we are in the area and they never disappoint

Waited a solid 30 minutes to get a “complimentary drink”, TV did not work which is the main reason people stay at hotels is to watch TV (called for service and took hrs for NOONE to show up), and it was just not the best experience.

You can tell the property is old and tired. Our initial room stunk of cigarette smoke, even though it was supposed to be a smoke-free room. We changed rooms, and it had numerous little issues like broken lampshades, the bathroom door didn't operate properly and wouldn't stay closed, and the outlets built into the lamps to plug your chargers into were so loose you couldn't get solid contact. The room itself was clean, and the beds were fine.

Large rooms with very comfortable cloud-like beds. Beautiful crisp clean design with cute lounge bar for evening cocktails and dinner and Café for delicious coffee, breakfast & lunch options.

The location was convenient to where we were going. But the beds were very uncomfortable. It felt like I was sleeping on a sofa-bed or roll away bed. The air conditioner was under the window very close to the ground. Because of that, there was condensation so bad that when I walked on that side of the bed the floor was saturated. Like there had been a flood.

The staff were very helpful. The facility is a little old, but it was a comfortable stay.

I chose a king sized bed for my 3 night stay. And was give a 2 double bed. I went to the reception area to get it corrected, they said the had nothing to offer me. I booked this room months ahead. For 200+ per night, I should have gotten what I reserved. Double bed was super uncomfortable.

I spent a weekend at the Hills Hotel for the Ohana festival in Dana Point, and I must say, I found it to be quite charming. The hotel exudes a sense of tranquility that was very much appreciated during my stay. Its strategic location near the highway allowed for swift and easy movement around the area.
While I didn't have the opportunity to extensively explore the hotel's amenities due to my festival schedule, I did enjoy a delightful breakfast one morning. The staff was exceptionally courteous, and I must commend them for their hospitality. Moreover, the Belgian waffles served were a delightful surprise, as they were both delicious and satisfying.
In summary, I highly recommend the Hills Hotel for a pleasant and convenient stay, particularly if you're attending events in the Dana Point area. It provides a serene atmosphere and hospitable service that adds to the overall enjoyment of your visit.

Very friendly staff, very clean room and nice pool area. Would stay here again, also great food near by. Small imperfections but nothing to bother our trip. Had a nice time and great live music in the lounge.

Disappointed. The view of the fwy under construction, the property maintenance shabby, the check-in staff aloof, the restaurant front of house shocking. Wish I'd taken photos to share. Never again.

Amenities were $20 extra per day (pool, parking, drinks, and Wi-Fi) they let you know when checking in. Should let you know when booking! Not staying here again.

Great location but not happy with $20 mandatory fee added on after paying through orbitz

The AC was really loud in the first room and the road noise so we moved...no road noise but still pretty loud AC...the 1st room toilet got clogged. The breakfast was good and the pool area was nice.
