La Gemma is a beautiful, stylish and genuinely luxurious hotel, perfectly located for a stay in Florence. We had an excellent experience from beginning to end. The hotel is beautifully designed, the rooms are very comfortable and the amenities are of an exceptionally high standard. The staff were wonderful throughout — warm, pleasant and unfailingly helpful with anything we needed, at any time.
We particularly loved the à la carte breakfast. It was sumptuous, beautifully prepared and offered plenty of choice, while avoiding the excess and waste of a large buffet — a much more refined approach and one we really appreciated.
La Gemma was exceptional and a real highlight of our time in Florence. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.
The only aspect that did not quite match the otherwise very high standard was the private guided tour of Florentine street cuisine arranged through the hotel. Given the price, we expected a more substantial and insightful experience, with better time management and greater depth of information. Our guide was very pleasant and made a genuine effort, but the tour remained quite basic. At this level, we would have appreciated more specialist knowledge, local insight and a deeper introduction to Florentine food and culture, beyond information that many visitors are likely to already know.
