Excellent location just off the market square with parking. (just be aware that the coop delivery lorry can occasionally block you in) Others have commented on the noise from deliveries but we did not find this to be an issue and we had all the windows were open the entire time we stayed. Everything we needed as a couple, good to have outside space (some cushions for the chairs would be a good addition) Folder of info was useful, especially details of buses and trains to York.
Yes, the stairs are steep but perfectly manageable.
Excellent value for money in summer season and the location. Helmsley is a beautiful village with lots of eating options and independent shops.

There are a number of stairs in the property, some quite steep so it would not be ideal for the less mobile

Perfect location, unheard of parking RIGHT outside the property door, perfect size for a couple, bed probably the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in away from home!
Tiniest thing ever was that I couldn’t open the bathroom window (as it’s in the ceiling over the loo) to let the condensation out so I got dropped on each time I went to the loo but nothing a towel around the shoulders didn’t sort!

Nice little hideaway. Parking is a great plus as helmsley can be a bit difficult to get a parking spot. Nice, clean and everything you need for a break. Little outdoor space was lovely.
Traffic can be a bit noisy but in a place like helmsley you have to expect it
