The Neighborhood: Bloomfield is a neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is located three miles from the downtown area. Bloomfield is sometimes referred to as Pittsburgh's Little Italy because it was settled by Italians from the Abruzzi region and has been a center of Italian–American population. Pittsburgh architectural historian, Franklin Toker, has said that Bloomfield "is a feast, as rich to the eyes as the homemade tortellini and cannoli in its shop windows are to the stomach." Recently, the neighborhood has attracted young adults and college students as a "hip" neighborhood Getting Around: Area is very walkable. The location of this property is ideal if you’re looking for a safe, walkable area with plenty of fun places to enjoy food, drinks, & other activities. Highly recommend walking to Merchant Oyster Co. and hanging around that area of Lawrenceville. The property itself is ideal if you’re just looking for a place to stay/sleep after exploring in Pittsburgh. There isn’t a whole lot of space inside to hang out, and the backyard is shared with other properties in the area so not the most ideal for privacy. The biggest drawback is that the entire bottom floor smells like the basement, which isn’t the most pleasant smell. There isn’t a door on the basement so we figured this was why, but I’m honestly not sure it would cover up the smell even if there was one. The few air fresheners that were there when we got there didn’t work, but we spent most of our time in the city so it wasn’t the biggest deal for us. The host was great, very responsive and thoughtful with a check in email on arrival to see if everything was alright. This is something that is much appreciated, and I felt that if we needed anything at any point that it would be taken care of quickly. Overall great location with a very nice host!

Good communication, budget friendly. Definitely and older home, but has everything you need - ex: I had to duck my head at the bottom of the stairs, but a/c worked great. Close to lots of shopping, food, and places to drink.
