A beautiful hotel in an amazing location. The 8-room hotel is in a lovingly renovated historic building on the main square, directly opposite a medieval castle. Our room was very comfortable, clean and quiet. Santa Pau is a small medieval village in the mountains, very interesting history and a fantastic location for hiking and cycling. We did a hike in the volcano area, including going down into an extinct volcano crater where an old chapel is situated - a 10 km plus walk which was very varied and interesting, great mountain views and beautiful beech forest. Afterwards we relaxed in the lovely plunge pool at Hotel Cal Sastre. The hotel is just wonderful, run by a couple who also run the attached restaurant where we ate both nights, great food and such a welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast was really nice too. We loved our couple of days here and highly recommend this hotel and location.
It would be very helpful if the hotel provided better information in English about how to drive into the village and where to unload baggage and where to park.

A Little Gem of a hotel. We loved everything about it and will definitely re book if we are back in that beautiful region of Spain. Location was fantastic, restaurant superb, room and facilities all spotlessly clean and comfortable, hostess friendly and welcoming, she even remembered what we wanted for breakfast. For those travellers who like their hotels to reflect their location and not be some sort of standard 'euro' box.
There was nothing we didn't like about this hotel.

Sleeping in a medieval city was a nice experience. Touring medieval Santa Pau was special.
The location is unbelievably difficult to find. The only way we could arrive at the hotel close to drive up a one-way street which was so designated. Much better directions I needed in order to find this hotel. And also, it was very difficult and unpleasant to eat breakfast with so many flies around the food.
