The hostel was clean.

The hostel advertises to be close to Yellowstone, but there were very bad roadworks and it took a long time to get there (and back). There was no good communication from the owner of the hostel, so I got lost in the hinterlands and ended on a private property were there could be a danger of shooting! (on the sign). A very nice man helped me to get to the hostel, which was completely deserted, dark and there was nobody. I was traveling by myself and it scared the hell out of me. It seemed like a goshthouse!! I tried to call the owner, but I couldn't reach her. I went to the house and saw all kind of signs on the hostel, like a 'treasure hunt', in order what to do. It felt scary to enter the complete empty and dark property in the middle of nowhere. After a while, some other people arrived and we found out where I had to go. When I was able to open WiFi, I saw an e-mail of the owner which was sent the same morning (8.37 am) with driving instructions and about the self check-in. This was very late and didn't get to read it in time, because I didn't have cell service in Yellowstone and was on the road since 6 am. Very poor and late communication! This could have avoided so much stress!!! I was very disappointed. The hostel was nice, but there were little notes for everything and felt like you were treated like a child... Also the front door wasn't opening well and got stuck. When I wanted to leave in the morning, I couldn't get out of the house, because the front door was stuck, and I tried many different things. I was wondering if I had to climb out of the window, but luckily the backdoor was open and I could walk out (through very high grass). Not a very nice experience.
