There was a different person working at the front desk alone every time I came in or out. They were nice but didn't seem totally up to speed on things. There was also a massive, seemingly ongoing construction project happening right door. It would have been great if that had been communicated before arrival/booking.

My whole trip was much better thanks to Legasta hotel staff who were so friendly, always in for a chat and willing to help or give some tips about local places and events!
Since I was solo traveling, local suggestions and insights were very helpful.
Communication was great and smooth since they all speak English.
Accommodation was also great, rooms were squeaky clean and all the necessary amenities were available. Location of the hotel is also amazing since you can visit most of the places around by walking.

The staff were very helpful and kind. The location allowed for a homey feel while still being close to public transportation.
It would have been nice to have a microwave.

Good location. Clean. Rooms more spacious than typical business hotel chains.
Spotty internet with intermittent drops and lots of trouble establishing initial connection.
On check in, staff accidentally charged me twice and asked me to bring card down for refund but staff was not present in the morning to do the transaction. I was instructed to go to their sister location only to be told that they could only perform the refund at the original hotel and no one could help me there until 9AM. The whole process involved going back and forth and wasting close to an hour of my time, ultimately causing me to be late to a business meeting. The error was theirs and their staffing issues further exacerbated it. I understand that mistakes happen, but I wish they could have been more accommodating in helping address it and I honestly felt they could have been far more apologetic about the inconvenience. Interactions were conducted in Japanese and I didn’t get a 申し訳ございません or so much as a すみません for the 迷惑. Just a brusque 前の場所に戻ってもらうことになります. Not what I expected from Kyoto’s legendary hospitality…
