Hathor House

I stayed in different hotels in Cairo but this hotel... I must come back as it became my second home in Cairo. Staff, room, breakfast, location and facilities all amazing and great value for money. Sama and Thomas, thank you for all the support during my stay (sorry for the endless orders on talabaat) I felt very safe and comfortable. Shout out to the 2 strong ladies who always prepared delicious breakfast and helped me with the luggage! Shukran!! I highly recommend Hathor to everybody but especially to solo female travellers.

Location of the Hotel is perfect , the room I styed in was really good , size is perfect , tidy & cleaned room , people works in the hotel are really trying their best to help & support , if your target distention & looking for affordable hotel then its the best location & best hotel to stay in . safe place , CCTV are monitoring the entire hotel , the beauty is no guest are allowed from outside the hotel in rooms .

The entrance of the building is not as you expect & not a luxury as you may want to see but its clean , the building is full of many activities , 2 or more hotels , few companies & I think some residential flats , its very old and vintage building but it has been renovated to keep its original structure & outlook , the lift is very old system which you have to close the doors then it will move / work , if someone missed to closed the doors properly then the lift will stay in that floor until someone else use it in proper way , very old , very basic but it works . Breakfast of the hotel very simple, very normal & it might be below expectation, but you will never miss anything if you ignore it as the entire area is full of many options of breakfast restaurants . NOW, the main issued I faced with the hotel, PAYMENT , according to booking rules ( Under Egyptian law all foreign guests must pay in a foreign currency, not in Egyptian currency. ) please be careful about point , the price you might get is not including the Taxes & VATS , make sure to have the final rate clearly & have the amount ready I cash from home other wise the hotel will charge you in $ converted to Egyptian pound PLUS 3% FOR PAYING VIA CREDIT CARD , this is what happened with me , they made me to pay the 3% more and bear the cost which they suppose to bare , this is the worst part , I reached early morning & they insist to have the transection in this way , pay the amount in cash in $ which I didn’t have the amount in cash , or converted to EGP or pay via Card and pay more 3% which is prohibited by the Egyptian law ( Action Against Violations: The Central Bank of Egypt Announcements state that citizens can report any business adding card surcharges directly to the Central Bank of Egypt or the Consumer Protection Agency.

This place is like my home away from home!! Great service!! Warm, welcoming staff! The Hathor house is clean, comfy and a great price!! I highly recommend.
