This centrally located home is blocks from McHenry's downtown district bars, shops, ice cream, restaurants, coffee, antique shops, and live theater entertainment.
Whether you want to relax indoors, lounge on the huge decks, take our kayaks out, soak in the private hot tub, or golf down the block --you're covered!

Heading into the neighborhood from downtown you'll pass by the beautiful golf country club and wind through streets covered with 100-year-old oak trees as you catch your first glimpses of the river before arriving at your retreat.
Enter the front door to the cozy den / office / TV area and continue toward the back of the house through the fully equipped kitchen with Keurig coffee maker, dishwasher and dining area. Next, pass into the great room with fireplace and a jaw-dropping expansive view of the back decks, dock, and shimmering riverfront.
The house allows convenient separation of different families (or peace and quiet from the children) with one large bedroom and bathroom downstairs and two bedroom and bath upstairs.
Driveway parking accommodates up to four vehicles; no overnight street parking.
A walk or quick bike ride 1/2 mile to downtown McHenry with bars, shops, nightlife, and Metra train service to Chicago.
The Fox River connects by waterway to the Chain O'Lakes with access to beaches, boating, swimming, beach, jet skiing, kayaking, canoeing, and more. Tour the river and stop off at a number of bars and restaurants with boat parking.
Nearby beaches, marinas, Blarney's Island, Volo Auto Museum, roller skating, movie theater, horseback riding, farmers market, pumpkin patches, apple picking, walking trails, nearby parks and nature areas, and more.

We had an amazing stay at Matt's house! The place had a beautiful view and it was so peaceful! A great place to unwind yet still access the craziness of Chicago. We would recommend and even stay again!

Matt is very responsive to all our inquiries. Had family visit and the space was very accommodating. Relaxing just to sit and watch the boats go by, though was surprised by the speed they passed by.

Starting with the positives: the sheets were really soft, the waterfront was beautiful & the house did have a lot of charm. The negatives: the bathrooms & lack of maintenance . After a 5 minute shower in the downstairs bathroom, I was standing in water up to my ankles. Thankfully 2 bottles of Drano fixed that. But it was difficult to get the water to the right temp without burning yourself. There was mildew/ mold forming on the ceiling in the bathroom, dust/dirt in the corners of the bathroom floor, and the spot where you pour fabric softener in the washing machine looked like it hadn’t been cleaned or wiped out in years. I would not book here again.
