Nestled in Cardiff, this lovely cottage for $617 per night is a great option for your next break. Family-friendly cottage across from the ocean in Cardiff-by-the-Sea Come enjoy this freshly updated, retro beach cottage just a half mile from the sand and a 10-minute walk to Pipes (Cardiff State Beach) and Swami's Beach. This is a beautiful section of the coastline, and this home offers miles of beautiful Pacific views. You can stroll on the lovely walking and bike path from Cardiff to Encinitas. If you'd rather, you can relax without effort on 2 well-furnished ocean view patio decks. Just a few steps from the great room is a long deck with high top stools and a wide railing, just right for morning coffee or an evening libation. The second patio deck, down a few stairs, offers a stunning unobstructed ocean view and is the perfect place for a barbecue and outside dining for 4-6. A comfortable fire pit cluster is the perfect place to watch the glow of the fire and the sunset at the same time. This two-bedroom, two-bath, 1,400-square-foot, single-story cottage has had some modern updates and sports all new furniture both inside and out, all of which will delight the pickiest of guests. The great room, with a large window flanked by original stain glass overlooking the awe-inspiring Pacific Ocean, sports a large TV and a cozy and comfortable seating cluster. A view-dining alcove has a ceiling fan to keep you comfortable at all times. The kitchen has all the modern conveniences you expect, making it easy for you to create meals and snacks. All you need do is add the food and the camaraderie and enjoy yourselves. This home has two bedrooms - a king primary bedroom with an en suite bath with a shower/tub combination. The second bedroom has a queen bed and there is a kid-friendly loft with a queen foam mattress and a full sofa sleeper in the living room. The second bathroom is shared, and all beds and bathrooms are furnished with an ample supply of premiere linens to ensure your ultimate comfort. You are within walking distance to the Cardiff Town Center, home of the famous Seaside Market (Cardiff Crack), VG's Donuts, & many restaurants and cafés. Enjoy easy driving proximity to LEGOLAND, downtown, and many other world-class adventures in the greater San Diego area. Outside there is plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy one another with a multi-level deck with an outside dining area, barbecue, and a comfortable fire pit seating cluster. The backyard is well landscaped and maintained giving you the feel of the beach surrounded by lush landscaping and colorful plants to delight your senses. This cozy original cottage has all the charm you need to make this a perfect, and easy vacation destination. This home sits high on a hill and may not be suitable for everyone as there are stairs to the entry and the beach. THINGS TO KNOW This home is west of I-5 and is on a fairly busy street. There are two additional units on this property that are occupied year-round. The stairs on the south side of the property are the long-term tenant's access to their units. This home is located in a quiet neighborhood and is only suitable for quieter groups. Our rental agreement includes a no-tolerance policy regarding excessive noise, occupancy, and/or parties. Deposit forfeitures and/or evictions are strictly enforced. This home is managed by the family owners. Encinitas permit number: RNTL-025649-2023 Parking notes: There is free parking for 1 vehicles. Make sure to park far right not blocking garage door. Guests must be at least 25 years of age to book. Guests under 25 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the reservation. We really enjoyed our stay at Cardiff Beach Cottage.
It is a great location, directly facing the ocean, and it was lovely watching the waves.
The cottage is charming. It is an older property, so the bathrooms/kitchen are not updated, but that gives it a quaint vibe and everything is spotlessly clean.
It is located on a busy street, which can be a little challenging as parking is across the street. It could also be quite loud with the cars and the trains. As we stayed in winter, that was not an issue as the windows were closed, but in the summer with the windows open you might want to employ ear plugs.
The location is perfect for surfing and walking. There is a trail in front of the house and you can do a loop along the cliffs. To surf, you will need to get in the car and drive 5 minutes either direction, as there is not beach access directly from the house.
The cottage is well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, and the teenager with us just loved the loft bed and called it his eyrie ;)

We had the best time while staying here! The house is beautiful and the outdoor space was amazing with gorgeous views. Lynn was very helpful and easy to communicate with! Could not recommend staying here enough!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cardiff Beach Cottage! The location is great not only for watching the sunset over the water but also for walking to the beach, shops and restaurants. The cottage is wonderfully maintained and has a nice comfortable layout for spending time with family both outside and inside. Most importantly the hosts are very accommodating, friendly, helpful. The charming 2 bedroom cottage was exactly as advertised. Clean and comfortable. Parking for 2 car was right in front and parking across the street was always easy. Plenty of good restaurants were a short drive or walk away. The outdoor space looking west was great for sunsets and people watching. Family owners on site were very engaging. Highly recommend this charmer and Cardiff as a destination.

cottage is in a great location and the perfect spot for our weekend getaway. no A/C but it wasn't really needed. fans were supplied so they helped keep air circulating.

Loved our stay at this house. Wish it was longer. Very clean and comfortable. Loved the location. We appreciate the amount of beds there are for a smaller home. The view is beautiful and it’s right off of a great walking path. We enjoyed walking our dog to go grab coffee and breakfast. Would definitely stay here again. The only negative is there was no bathroom door in the master bedroom. But it isn’t a dealbreaker.

This quaint Surf Cottage was all that we hoped it to be. Yes it did not have A/C BUT the breeze was great and kept things very comfortable. The decks and views from the living room were outstanding. Noise was very minimal and did not bother anyone. The ability to walk to the beach, stores or just exercise was very welcomed. We will be returning one day. Highly recommend Cottage

Great property and perfect location! We were able to bring our dog and the house is directly across from a walking path! Lovely neighbors and both Cardiff and Encinitas are walking distance or a short drive. Only 5 min drive to the beach!! The deck is also perfect for family dinners which we did every night, and great views!!! Would definitely stay here again!

We loved our stay in Cardiff-by-the-Sea! The house was comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. The view of the Pacific Ocean could not have been any better. Watching the sunset each night from one of the decks, the living room couch, or the kitchen table was AMAZING! Walking in either direction next to the water was pretty great too! Owners were very sweet and helpful! Recommend highly.

So many great things to rave about from our stay at this adorable beach cottage!!! Lynn has created a beautiful retro cottage - amazing art (that she herself did!) throughout the place and cute decorations! There has been such attention to every detail! The top two aspects are the unbeatable location and views and light within the cottage itself & multiple porches/outdoor sitting areas! We could just step outside and take a walk along the ocean, or walk to Swamis and watch the surfers, or get down onto beach itself and enjoy the water. Lots of little shops and restaurants around! But even inside or on the porch you are able to enjoy the ocean, sunshine and the relaxation of southern Cali! Just sit on the sofa and you have an incredible view! Lynn has thought of everything in the cottage - well-equipped kitchen, two large bedrooms, the living room with a very nice sofa and extra chairs and large screen, etc. The main porch has a large round table w umbrella where we could have meals and enjoy the sunset as well as sitting areas. We were so inspired by the beautiful oil paintings and art on the ceramics throughout the cottage - so unique! And it is a quiet location so we could enjoy family time and the amazing location! And the cottage and porch and area is very dog friendly, which was very important to us! Lynn and company were incredible hosts and made everything so easy! It really was a perfect get away and we have already booked our next trip there!

We rented this home because of the view and it did not disappoint. It was nice to enjoy the ocean from the patio to living room and dining area. Great location for taking walks and near shops and dining.

This is one of the best rentals we have ever experienced. The views are spectacular and the house is well appointed. It’s not over the top in any way but it’s nothing less than exactly what you need. Our dogs enjoyed the back yard and the patio and we loved how comfortable the house was in every way. The space is used effectively, and although we didn’t need it all of it you can easily see how 5-7 people would be comfortable here. We can’t recommend this enough.

Probably one of the best rentals ever for me. Will be back. Enjoyed playing games and taking a glass of wine and meals on the deck, making smores, watching sunsets around firepit, many easy walks to the beach on path. Occasionally noticed car traffic outside but otherwise just loved this. Hosts offered us herbs from garden and brought lovely roses for table.

We loved our stay! This property was perfect for our family (we have two teenagers). The beds were comfortable and the view was absolutely amazing! The location was perfect for surfing, shopping and restaurants. We also enjoyed the walkway across the street. We would definitely book here again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the beach cottage! It was very clean upon arrival and the pictures and description matched up to the reality. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and appreciated the little kid dishes. We had ordered a pack n play (which unfortunately was an upcharge) and it wasn't there when we arrived. But when we called, they were responsive and someone came within an hour to drop one off. The beds were comfortable and we loved the paintings and decor. The master bath could use an update (and a door) but it was fine for our purposes. There were plenty of beach towels and we used the beach chairs/umbrella we found in the storage bin behind the house. We were hoping there would be just a couple of beach toys but we ended up buying our own (and leaving them since we didn't have room to take them back). The location was amazing. Yes, it's on a very busy road (you had to really pay attention while crossing from your car). But it's walkable to restaurants and shops in both Cardiff and Encinitas, as well as several beaches (though we drove when we took our longer beach trips with more stuff). The view is what sold us and what will most likely bring us back. We loved taking in the view with our morning coffee and even though there are busy roads, our kids had fun seeing the trains, cars, dog walkers, etc. Definitely could get loud but less than what we expected based on previous reviews. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and hope to be back!
