East Gate 8–9 in Batticaloa is a little oasis in the heart of the old city. Quiet, peaceful, yet perfectly central, it offers the best of both worlds. The owner and manager are exceptionally friendly and polite, the place is spotless, and the villa itself feels noble and refined. All this comes at a very decent price. I truly enjoyed my walks through the surrounding neighborhood and can wholeheartedly recommend this place for a stay on Sri Lanka’s east coast.
The Bathroom was a little small, but no big deal.

A quiet guest house in a nice area of Batticaloa. A lovely coffee shop within the walking distance just over the bridge (Mandalas Cafe). There is a communal kitchen which was very useful for us as a family. The owner let us store milk and cold food in his fridge.
The pillows and mattresses were very uncomfortable (rock hard). The rooms could do with a bit more cleaning.
