Location is in safer area of town with easy access to many fantastic Bree st restaurants. Also close walking distance to a great Spar grocery store. V&A Waterfront is a safe and comfortable walk. Rooms are a good size and self-catering facilities are well stocked. The old building has a lovely vibe. Housekeeping services are attentive and efficient. Secure parking is available onsite. Good value for the price point.
Its missing some of the basic comforts. For example, basic amenities need to be requested and shared - these should be available in each room (such as irons and ironing boards and hair dryers). Tea and coffee facilities only partly provided, a Nespresso coffee machine but no pods available, a small starting allocation of pods would be appreciated. Some maintenance needs to be done (slight water damage in the bathroom, wardrobe doors dont slide correctly). I've stayed at the Barracks several times and these points haven't stopped me from returning, just good to be aware.

The location was ideal.
The building and our room smelled like cannabis even though there are signs everywhere warning of fines for smoking. When we called to complain, the manager said there was nothing they could do to stop the private residents from smoking and that it was passing through the vents into our room.
