Location - brilliant views. Host Colin was also very helpful and went above and beyond. Had a power cut and offered accommodation at a local hotel.
With a 1 yr old a washing machine would have been handy.

We stayed here for two nights as a base for exploring the area, but honestly, we could have happily stayed for our whole trip!
Firstly, the accommodation itself was beautiful and absolutely immaculately clean. Communication before arrival was excellent, and our host, Colin, introduced himself shortly after we arrived. He was incredibly friendly, welcoming and personable — so much so that my boys completely monopolised his time and nagged his ear off!
The setting is spectacular, with gorgeous views from the balcony. The location was also perfect for us. We drove to Edinburgh Zoo, which took around an hour, and Galashiels town centre was only about a 10-minute drive away, where we found supermarkets and takeaways etc.
The grounds were a real lifesaver, especially with a toddler. The children had plenty of space to run around and enjoyed the climbing frame and trampoline. Colin also told us about an owl that had taken up residence near some old ruins close to the accommodation. We went for a little wander and were lucky enough to spot the owl, as well as a few bats and a family of deer in a nearby field. It was such a lovely unexpected part of our stay!
We would 100% recommend this accommodation to families and are already planning to stay again so we can explore more of the local area. Colin also gave us some fantastic suggestions for our next trip, which we’re looking forward to trying.
One small suggestion for families with young children: although the kitchen is extremely well stocked with utensils, crockery and everything you could need, there weren't any toddler-friendly plastic plates or cups. It’s certainly not a criticism, but something worth bearing in mind and taking with you for peace of mind.
Overall, a fantastic stay in a beautiful location with a genuinely lovely host. We can't wait to come back!

The most sensational views, calm and peace. The kids loved the trampoline and outdoor space, and us parents loved the balcony with stunning views
