Great place to stay if you’re a film lover. The cinema room on the ground floor was great for watching films with a large projector screen and there were televisions in each room all with smart features.
Very modern with underfloor heating and cosy lighting.
The double beds were very comfortable and spacious.
Plenty of bath towels, tea towels, good quality oven, kitchen knifes, glassware and a massive fridge freezer.
Tea and coffee available with milk frother, plenty of kitchen amenities, a dishwasher and a small selection of spices, salt and oil.
Great communication from the host and clear instructions for accessing the property.
Not a place of you struggle with stairs as there were many steep stairs -it would’ve been great to have a bathroom on the first floor.
The automatic light outside the bedroom doors would wake us up with any movement due to the see through doors and if you needed to use the toilet and we’re staying in the twin room you’d have to go into the en-suite in another room or go down two flights of stairs. The sheets in the twin room weren’t great quality (quite bobbled/worn).
You’d need to climb down a ladder and flight of stairs to use the bathroom if staying in the loft bed.
The lack of door to the bathroom in the loft space bedroom felt exposing, as did the semi see-through doors to the bathrooms and bedrooms.
There was no hand soap at all, limited bins throughout the property and limited dishwasher tablets- with the dishwasher needing a refill of salt and rinse-aid.
The coffee machine seemed to have a part missing/very dirty and couldn’t pour a shot (I’m a former barista).
There were no tv remotes for the bedrooms and I had to download an app to use the television in the be room.

Beautiful house, great location and views. Perfect spot for getting into York and big enough for our group to enjoy. Lovely little outside space too.
Definitely not cleaned thoroughly enough (dust, cobwebs and sticky floor). The top floor ensuite shower and the ground floor shower connected to the bedroom suite both flooded when in use. There were no cleaning products for guests to use. Not even washing up liquid or hand soap. Only a couple of dishwasher tabs. We couldn't unlock the lock box because we were supplied with the wrong code and the booking.com helpline couldn't get hold of anyone. Fortunately they found the correct code. Bedding did not smell fresh and clean. Instructions were basic and we had to hunt for the outside bin key so we could throw our rubbish away. Only one bin bag provided.

The house was very close to the old city of York.
The house was dirty when we arrived and appeared not to have been cleaned. The "mezzanine" bedroom was challenging for older adults.
