The hotel is beautifully designed, both inside and out. Built into the hillside and surrounded by greenery, the suites almost feel like luxurious little hobbit homes nestled into the landscape. The location is peaceful and away from the bustle of Hersonissos, while still being only about a 10-minute walk from town. The picturesque village of Koutouloufari is also just a 5-minute walk away.
Our suite was exceptionally clean, with excellent daily housekeeping. The bed was comfortable, and we loved having our own private hot tub, which was high quality and always spotlessly clean. High fences between the suites provide plenty of privacy, even when using the terrace and hot tub.
The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and helpful, and the staff at Olea restaurant in particular were very pleasant and professional. Free on-site parking was another plus.
For a four-star property, there were a few practical details we expected to be better thought out.
The shower leaked quite a lot of water onto the room floor even with the doors fully closed. Our suite also lacked practical storage — there was no luggage bench, so both suitcases had to remain open on the floor, and there was only one hook in the bathroom. There is plenty of space, so these seem like relatively easy things to improve.
Another strange design choice was the terrace roof. While the other bungalows appeared to have solid roofs, our building, with three private hot-tub terraces, had only a bamboo covering. It looks beautiful but provides virtually no protection from rain, and with a flat roof and no overhang, there is nowhere outside to stay dry.
During a major storm on our last night, a local cat looking for shelter eventually came into our room. As cat lovers, we happily dried her, fed her and let her sleep inside, so it actually became a sweet experience for us — although other guests might be less enthusiastic about a soaking-wet cat seeking refuge in their room! A proper terrace roof would make the outdoor space usable even during rainy weather.
Finally, our neighbours smoked frequently on their terrace and while using their hot tub. The smoke regularly drifted onto our terrace and into our room, including at night and in the morning. Given how close the terraces are, a designated smoking area or non-smoking terrace policy would make a significant difference.

Everything was fantastic and exactly, what we were hoping for. The room (junior suite) was large, the bathroom and shower were good (good water pressure too). And of course outside was great too. A nice, fairly large pool and room to lie and read in the sun and enjoy the view of the ocean. The hotel is far enough from the village/city center, that is nice and quiet and allows you to relax. But only 5 minutes walk from the center of Koutouloufari. The hotel staff was excellent and exceedingly friendly and we enjoyed them very much. The hotel restaurant is also very good. The village was very pretty and full of restaurants and is a nice place to spend a few days. We did not like the other town down by the coast that much. It has a completely different vibe. But it's only 15 minutes walk down the hill and easy enough to check out. We did go to Heraklion for one day and see Knossos. Would recommend.
The bed was a little soft for my liking. We did notice, that one side was harder than the other, so we swapped sides after the first night and it was better then. Aside from that, all great.
